Earth Found!
Earlier that week I had received a secure communicae from FoundationÆs Director of Intelligenceà
MEASSAGE AS FOLLOWS:
DIRINTEL 0102200423000
-BoBoZoBo
Ongoing relations with XXXXXX have produced a rare module found deep within one of the planets inhabiting the EVE gate constellation. We have called it Othello; the exact location where it was found is classified. After studying the object we have found out how to activate it. However, it requires a rare mineral it uses to convert the enormous amount of energy it produces into a specific, usable frequency. We are unable to reproduce this effect and are in need of the mineral. This mineral was found in a remote system by chance about 3 months ago while one of our other agents was on an expedition in that area. We are unsure of what this devices final function is. Research indicates that it may be an unfamiliar shielding technology or perhaps a new form of power supply. In either case it is quite a significant piece, and we must find out what its function is immediately.
Your mission is as follows:
Proceed with Othello to the location provided. Search and acquire XXXm3 of the mineral. Activate & Test Othello Report.
It is best if you proceed with Othello to the location and conducts tests there. You will be quite far from any curious people.
Destroy anyone you suspect as a compromise to the mission. Good Luck.
COORDINATES: XXXXXXXXXX
- - - - - - - - - - - -
So I proceeded as ordered to the designated coordinatesà..remote indeed. Two days just to get there. I go on to mine the mineral and prepare Othello for activation.
Then I flip the switch.
With all my experience in space and war, I have NEVER heard such a noise. A searing of metal, with the expedient hissing of atoms tearing apart. The temperature was Perfect, like a warm tubà. The light flash was so intense that I passed out.
When I awokeà I saw THISà
The View!
I could not believe my eyes! My navigational computer was shotty at best and my chronometer seemed to be offà by about 20 millennia. I had to take this opportunity to document as much as I can.
BLASTED ELECTRONICS, oh, most things were workingà just not all the time.
I managed to lock onto a nearby planet at get the camera to work long enough to take this last shot of ità
Look Familiar?
and began to inspect the nearby asteroid field. Pristine systemà Then came the hissssssssàFLASH!
The ship reappeared in familiar territory, smoldering in the solar wind. Local pirates must have smelled it because they popped up all over the place. I was going to have to bail, but Othello! It was fused into the bay; there was no way to save it.
I set the timerà
ôAutodestruct Activated, T -15....10ö
She always had a soothing voiceà
Only one thought ran through my mind as the pod ejected from my beloved Rifterà those beautiful oceans.
Enough to keep me company for the long trip home.
Over and Out...

"nice photoshop -_-;;"
... More like the planet textures in the .stuff file are overwritten, the photoshopped letterwork is quite bad ^^;
Sure shows the difference those glowing cities on planet surface make for the overall look, though...

I was also thinking about Greg Martin tutes may have been incorporated to create the aqua haze around the planet. I could check by finding my old tuts from his web site and comparing the colours but that would be an effort and really be nit picking at a thread that this person is trying hard to be proud of. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Considering the fact that it would be multi- texture with an alpha activated by light. You would still have to set the maps right. Yeah, MUCH easyer than just PSing it.
Earth... it is meant to be recognizable Kojack. Perhapse if you know of someone else who has a nice night time shot of the earth?
I deferr to my previous comment... LOL
We have a lot of experts now (with nothing much to show). I guess its the lure of anonimity.
Just enjoy the story for what it is.
This is actualy also meant to show how cool EVE would be if some planets had population indicators, such as the light on the dark side. |

Jeez people! can you just enjoy the post for its face value? Do you need to argue, analyze, deconstruct and get into a technical discussion of what is or what's not?
Thank you BoBoZoBo for a nice post. A nice change from the typical garbage that gets posted every day.
One thing I wonder. How come in the entire universe of EVE, none of the planets show any evidence of civilization aside from the orbiting station? There are no lights, geometric patterns and other clues to civilization like other orbiting object around the planets.
"The human species suffers from a dimensional limitation. They are not able to understand that matter and mind are just one aspect of something more fundamental. We must strive to expand our perspective so we can see what our true reality is." Deep toughts by Mr.Pops, while consuming large quantities of Blue Pill and staring at the EVE gate in Genesis.
