F-14's were ****, their engines had a habbit of blowing out. Only reason people reason people like them is becuase of the movie top gun, because they were "Dog fighting" A-5's err I mean migs.

The Stryker Cool light APC. The metal cage on the sides is designed to protect against RPGs. Supposedly everyone inside this Stryker survived without injury and the vehical itself could still move under its own power.
The Blackwater Grizzly is somewhat similar to the Stryker.
Cool little Hybrid jeep type vehical
I didn't even know the Humvee was being replaced until I stubled onto this wiki page
And how cool would it be if US troops cruised the desert in Lamborghinis
LAV III are better then the Stryker, mainly because they have better Armour Also those cage's are useless against weapons like the Carl Gustav, M72's, Mines and IED's. I wonder why they have not added upgraded reactive armour on the Stryker or LAV III tho.

Also, M113A3 are probably the best APC around, and can be upgraded with 25mm cannons, Anti Tank\Missle systems. and other awsome things can be done

There's no such thing as an APC anymore... it's an IFV now

I give you a superbly cost effective anti-armour weapon utilising a shaped charge warhead and a smart delivery system capable of delivering the payload with uncanny precision. Able to defeat most armour on the battlefield.

The Stryker is a massive improvment over the Humvee though, which is what it is mostly replacing. Comparing it to a full fledge APC isn't quite fair. ------ wait...what? |

Pffft my ideas for IED's are more scary and more effective and maybe abit more expensive. Build Remote control airplanes, laced with home made expolives + ball barrings. cost? under 500 dollars. or get a copper plate(50 cm in diametre), and place alot of expolsives behind it, and a remote dentonator(you want to hit tanks or APC's not, unarmed people, hence the remote controllyness) I will now probably be taking away by the CIA now, and send to a tried world country and tortured now...

I'll focus primarily on American technology, but I'll bring in stuff from other countries as well.
I'm an extremely partiotic person (U.S. citizen) so that kinda increased my inclination to do something like this. Although I say God bless the troops, as per the forum rules please keep the political/religious aspects of miliraty life; this is strictly a tech discussion.
I'll periodically post a new vehcile, gun, plane, ect. so check back every once in a while

This plane is an AC-130 Spectre Gunship. Its a varient of the C-130 Hercules transport plane and its used for close air to ground support. Typical armaments are 20mm Vulcan cannons/ miniguns, 40mm L/60 Bofors cannon, and a 105mm M102 Howitzer.
You should check out the CIWS sometime. I supervise two shops on my ship one of which is for the Close In Weapons System. Pretty cool to see it in action. Pretty much auto point defense.
