Here is my way for people to avoid getting killed at low sec gate camps. (And you don't even need WCS's)
It is called InstaWarping:
You train for both Micro warp drives and Covert Ops. You put both items on your ship. When you jump into system and see the gate camping piewats you locate the gate youÆre going to jump to. Before you uncloak you double click close to the gate, hit the correct "F" for your Micro Warp Drive then the "F" key to cloak. Your ship will quickly turn towards the gate you want to warp to and accelerate. Once up to speed you uncloak and then do the "warp to" your gate.
You will insta warp away from those bad gankers and leave them scratching their heads... "what just happened?"

You do realise that now and then you need a ship which actually can, well, do something?

Except in 0.0 where they use interdictors, bubbles, and interceptors which lock fast, to greatly decrease the chances of success. But other than that, yeah it works.

It's called a Covert Ops ship :S
I actually feel bad for pirates that now have to lock on to ships before they engage warps and have many disruptors on them. (WCS 4tw)
However, covert ops are not imba in this way.

That is why I said low sec... but thanks for confirming it.
And I use a Bustard... a pritty good industrial ship.

A nice tactic...You'll have battle speed (or close to) and be able to break a lock on you.
Useless in 0.0 (as noted)....But can be effective in low -sec

What ship are you fitting that on?
A covert recon is immune in low sec anyway, so is a shuttle
I doubt you talking about 0.0, as our dictor pilots are specialised in the decloaking approach trick

I'd just love to know how you manage to fit a covops cloaking device on your Bustard ???
Or is this only for covops ships?

With any ship, you can get one cycle out of an MWD while under cloak. You move to break the gatecloak, pop the MWD, then cloak. If you do it correctly, as the OP surmises, you can warp away with little trouble.
If you're in a covops with a covert ops cloak, no need to do anything but click warp and cloak.
In 0.0 it's a bit diffrent. Bubbles are going to break your soul. But, if you keep your head and don't panic, you have a pretty good chance even in a non covert-ops ship.
Since you can't just warp out, you pick a direction away from the nearest enemy (turn on the tactical overlay, i's a huge help in these situations), double click to start moving, hit the MWD and cloak. You've got to be precise with this because if you show up on an overview even for an instant- long enough to get a mouse over your icon- you're done as someone will stop your cloak by locking you.
If you get cloaked, CHANGE DIRECTION by at least 45 degrees after cloaking. I like to go up or down to the plane of the ecliptic, at an odd angle. This confounds many flat-thinkers. It won't save you from a truly competent bubblecamp, but has better odds than other techniques.
Once you're cloaked and moving, change direction from time to time, avoid the inties and their attempts to get within 2K to decloak you if you can (that's what the tactical overlay is great for) and slowboat to the edge of the bubble- or wait until it expires if it's not an achorable one. Then align under cloak to some object, decloak and warp out if you can.
This technique will not save you every time and requires a lot of nerve to be successful at.
I suggest also fitting sensor damps and maybe ECM to your ship if you think you'll be hitting a bubble. If you get targeted, you can make a run for the border and damp the tacklers. That's what I'd refer to as "desperation moves". ;)
But whatever you do, don't just give up. You'd be surprised at how often being calm and persistent will get you through a camp.

Thats true We had a gate locked down in providence R3 area, and a drake jumps in and cloaks. He must have had luck on his side with the 3 vagas charging down his last known position with drones out. You can imagine how slow a cloaked drake is
We then killed a lot of traffic, had almost forgot about the drake, and then about 15mins later the drake uncloaks and happily warps off.
Usually we catch cheetahs and helios

My industrial Bustard ship. And if you get High Speed Maneuvering up high enough using the MW drive doesn't take as much cap.
