What do all of you solo players use for anti-jamming? When soloing an npc mission where I get jammed by multiple ships, there's really nothing I can do with my current fitting. I've tried the multi sensor backup array and even fitted two of them but still got jammed and needed to warp out. I know there are modules to allow two or more ships in a gang to prevent jamming but I other than the useless backup array, I see nothing for solo players (or am I using the backup array incorrectly?).
Is the ECM burst something I may be interested in? Does it form a radius around the ship making everything within that radius target jammed? Or does it only work on a targeted vessel?
Lastly, I'm still training drones and have never used them before, but if my ship is being jammed, can my drones still target and fire upon the jamming ship or any other vessel even though I can't target anything?
I know FOF missiles are designed to aid in this matter and they have come in handy for me already but I'm trying to find a more finessed approach to dealing with jamming. Besides, for missions like the Blockade, I seem to always warp in the middle of starbase structures making my FOF's target them first.
Thanks

as far as i know, npc ecm has fixed chaces, no matter what ship/fitting you got.

ECCM modules (the extra 'C' makes it a counter-countermeasure) are what you're looking for here. And though I don't know for sure whether or not NPCs have fixed chance, my own experience would suggest not since it feels to me like I get jammed a lot less when I use ECCM against those pesky Dread Guristas.

ECCM seems to work well against rats

So from what I understand, ECCMs are just designed to make sensors powerful enough to prevent jamming? Do I activate it while being jamming or as soon as I warp into the room containing jamming rats? Is it also active against all surrounding rats or only the rat I have targeted?
What about the drones? I'd like to know if my drones can still target rats if I'm being jammed. From what I read in the drone guide in the sticky above, it seems like I can just let drones out on their own to do their own dirty work without my assistance or I can control them fully if I want. It seems like if I let them loose that they should still function whether I'm jammed or not right?

Edited by: o0TuNa0o on 11/09/2007 14:10:08 ECM bust, when activated, causes the enemy to lose it's lock (chance based)
Backup arrays increase the signal strength of ships. Some are racial, some are multi. Tbh, rats seems to have a much higher chance of jamming a target. They also seem to have a much stronger ship signal strength. I can quite easily jam BS's in my recon, but some rats, especially rat drones, have a much reduced chance of jamming.
As for drones. if your jammed, they will continue to shoot the ship they are already shooting. After that it depends. sometimes they will target other ships, sometime's they will fly about sightseeing.
Hope that helps.

Thanks - that clears it up a little. I guess I'm going to have get out there and test some of the mentioned modules.

a hypothetical question: i'm in a small fast frigate, and i'm running through 0.0 i get into a gatecamp, and stay cloaked until i spot a way out of bubble (with mwd). Unfortuantely, they have few interceptors with crazy locking speeds. If i hit mwd, and than get scrammed, would ecm burst save my ass soon enough to warp away? i mean, small stuff have low strenght, and bigger stuff need more time so they're of no concern...
