After the new patch, I went rat hunting in 0.0 space with my famous BS. All the ppl I know were there, making this more fun (hey, we blow up 2 ravens 500k).
But one thing happened shortly after. Being in the north american continent, our time zone is kinda different, so most of the fighters went off to bed. I continued hunting, alone. Not that crazy, I went to the belts where the rats were kinda easier. Shot one down, the rest came towards me gun blazing.
And this thing happen: "Gurista blah blah hits you with blah blah CRUISE missile for 250 dmg". Hey, what the ...! I was hunting the same rats the day before, im sure they werent using cruise, and they did 99 dmg. No wonder I had to lick my wounds shortly after (did not loose my BS, just had to repair the hull).
Those rats are normal 15k to 45k rats. My question is: Was anything changed to the rats? Do anyone did lived the same experience? |

I learned this the hard way when I found out Serpentis THORAX'S where shooting cruise missles at me!
I went home in a pod.

Can we have an official statement from CPP about any changes to NPCs? |

The serpentis modify their ships heavily. Having Vexors and Thoraxes flinging missiles at you was a bit shocking the first time.

I have seen wierd stuff like this too. But sadly its CCP sick way of slapping you in the face and saying "Hey, we have great stuff in the game, too bad yo ucant have it "

pity the player base cant do what the npc's do and mod there ships, (instead of a lab u could put it in a space dock for exaple, ud have to pay alot and wait for it to finnish, prob a while but be able to change ur ship, and therefor make strat and a surprising attacks more common)

They're a special kind of Thorax called Guardians, like Guardian Initiate, Guardian Captain, etc,. Different from the 45K Chief Protector which is also in a Thorax.
It should not come as a surprise. Before the Castor patch, the Serpentis Drug Carrier (Maulus) could fire missiles even though a Maulus could not.
If you think a Thorax shooting missiles is funny, wait till you see the Crucifiers, Augorors, Mallers and Armaggedons that shoot missiles. Possibly a Punisher too. YOu can find them with the Bloods. Well not exactly, the Blood in the Augoror does not shoot missiles; the missile shooting Augoror is a missions only special called the Rouge Pirate Escort. Oh and the Blood in the Arbitrator could shoot two missiles at one time, even if the player Arbitrator only has one launcher.

Some NPC ships which actually don't have missile launcher slots, but they launch heavy voleys of missiles at u! The only explanation for this could be that the NPCs have tech 2 ships, or maybe tech 3!?

NPC ships are not like player ships with slots and powergrid etc. They just shoot x amount of damage every y seconds (with some randomness in it) and launch missiles every z seconds. It's easier to balance them this way and also faster for client/server to handle.

NPC need to be alot more powerfull in most aspect than us players since we adapt, they follow some straight AI wich we can counter.
They have better weapons, more hardpoints for weapons, no cap, no limit on ammo, can warp out, can boost shields, more HP.
If this was not the case we could be chaining still in 0.0 alone and that was never meant to be like that. Spawn of the Devil

Yah this is all probably true..
but any of you noticed a change in the weapons they are using? I mean, they were firing heavy missiles before, now its cruise? |

The CEO of the pirate corp in question got on the Manufacturing director's back over not having cruise missiles for his fighters... Problem solved case closed. InfiniCorp, Lunatic at Arms

i hate them there not harder there cheaters... 3 friggs ammar ships shot my heavy missles with there lasers... WHY CANT I DO THAT TOO! and then they use defenders on me... is it just me or does every npc ship in game have a missle launcher or 2?
