Just some of my ideas let the smack commence.
1) I'm not sure this is of great benefit.. too likely that the ppl on the panel will follow their own agenda's tbh.. (ofc they arent meant to, but lets be realistic). Player input certainly, player decisions less critical. 2) Prizes that help cover costs, rather than a big prizes at the end, this will encourage less well off alliances to compete. 3) More alcohol, and an ecm at the end of a match =]
4) I'd like to see the rules sorted out much earlier.

2) Alliance intros. A quick (1-2 minute) intro about competing alliances instead of the "uuuh, it's those, err.. namtzamarzasszxara... whatevers..."
In alot of cases these could be done before hand, maybe even by the alliance themselves.. I know evetv was at the BOB bbq, which had members of various groups attending..
I am aware that evetv sent out info requests from each alliance, which if remember correctly was quite rubbish questions, and i never heard referred to anyway. Unfortunately the "experts" seem to think that reading the forums makes them experts on the various groups...

tbh i find the "shenanigans" get quite tiresome quite quickly.. _________________________ xMenta (DSMA) xBOS (CA) ATUK (.5.) DICE (BOB) Elcyion Lacar

We never got any info requests from EVE TV as far as I know (did they do it via the forums?), though at least Eddz knew who we were.

yes.. well it's entertaining what eddz thinks he "knows" about competitors :P
Maybe actually giving the "experts" some actual facts would distract from us getting to laugh at them
Seriously i can understand that the experts dont all have a clue about the groups they have never deals with, but i would suggest as part of the prep work, someone sits down and makes a "cheat sheet" so the experts dont look quite so ignorant.. _________________________ xMenta (DSMA) xBOS (CA) ATUK (.5.) The plain vanilla T1 tournament:
120 pts, buy costs like last tournament. Maybe modify for tier of ship? No restriction on pilot number.. if someone wants to bring 40 T1 frigates... No Faction, T2, named equipment. No Implants. No faction or T2 ships. Everything else goes (drones, ecm, etc)
Have at it, here really skill and tactics decide, as expensve equipment is not on the field. And we might get to see some interresting T1 ships for once.

I didn't watch the tournament since I thought the rules were so far from normal EVE combat that it was pathetic.
My rules would be like this: 20 ships per team (no restrictions on types, except no capitals) T1/T2 items/ships only Whole system is battleground (yes, you can warp everywhere) No safespots allowed Cloaks not allowed A draw is treated like a loss for both teams (to force engagements)
But hey, this'd probably make too much sense....
My views are my own. They do not represent the views of my corporation or alliance. |

Same basic rules but force switching of ship types across successive matches so there is less predictability and more random-risk for each team. To get the optimal setup requires sacrificing a setup in one round to be able to use it in the next.

I don't quite get this sentiment, especially from a BoB member. Don't you see enough real pvp down south fighting in the war, why would you want to see more of that? The tourney is suppose to be a spectacle, something different. It's a game within a game and made different from the game by adding rules on top of existing game rules.
But personally I enjoyed the format, you should watch it then critic it, you just might like the deviation from real pvp.
And you should definitely make some kind of tournament tracker that you can both show on EveTV, as well as the web site. Listing matches fought, and points won. It was difficult to follow the progression imo.

how about an entire system wide match and we can fallow the players by looking at what they see like in matches in games when your dead and you can watch what others do.

/signed. This is the Eve World Cup except its twice a year. Would you see Gary Lineker and Alan Hansen (Brit Soccer Anchors) sitting there with a bunch of scraps of paper trying to work out how many points England have to make it out of the group stages? Or (LOL) even worse, not being able to check those aforesaid group tables until the following day on teletext? Realtime updates guys, it isnt hard.
Overall excellent tourney, lots of changes to make to EveTV, but I am sure it is a learning curve the weekly screened show needs to pull up its professional socks a bit still too tbh but it is getting there, sure the next tourney will be the same. The point made above was my only real gripe with the coverage, there were other (ECM Burst) related issues, but that is for the GM's to resolve, not EveTV

This is probably a bad idea but...
Instead of a points system why not have a bidding style system. Once all the alliances have joined give each of them a set amount of bidding points (say 2000 or something) and one of the GM's has a pool of BPC's. A representative from each alliance participates in like an auction to bid on the BPC's. Say something like a 1 run Raven BPC has a starting bid of 40 points, have a fixed number so say max of 20 Raven BPC's total in the pool.
Once the tournament starts you can only use ships built from the BPC's you were sucessful in bidding for and you can fit them however you like. That way teams not only have to try to win but they also have to protect the ships they have from getting destroyed. Since if they spend all their bidding points on big ships they may not have any backup ships to field in subsequent matches should they start loosing ships.
I've got something in mind like the draft pick system a lot of sporting leagues have, only instead of bidding on rookies your bidding on ships. A Ship getting destroyed is kind of like the star rookie getting injured and missing the rest of the season.
I duno probably to difficult to implement but just a crazy idea I had.

Speaking of bidding, how about a bonus for winners who do not field the full amount of ships they are entitled to? I am thinking of Battletech and the clan tradition of Batchall here. ----- Visible Implants - good for so many occasions |

Perhaps a little research on pronunciation and history of the Alliances participating? Send out a list of questions/information request to the Alliances to fill out and return? It would help the commentators to know something about the teams participating. ôThings derive their being and nature by mutual dependence and are nothing in themselvesö - Words of Ash Ock |

A few things, 1. Combat Boosters: Allowed, 2. Podding: Allowed 3. Rigs: Allowed, 4. 12 People per team, more flexiblity, and 150 Point System, 5. No Pirate Battleships

Loved the tournament, part of why I reactivated my account* :) Here's a few points from the top of my head.
1. I liked the diversity in fleets but missed faction ships, also no alliance chose to represent a faction. Perhaps both could be addressed by enabling an alliance that represents a faction to use faction ships from that faction at a reduced point cost (making them feasible) and perhaps allowing it also to use faction mods from that faction. A hefty cash reward for those alliances as well to counter the mad cost of faction ships.
2. Increase the total points and let faction mods and rigs cost points. If you're fleet setup costs 98 points you can put two rigs on some ships or something. point cost of a mod could be calculated from the meta level.
3. Make a tool that calculates points automatically and enable us players to use it before the tourney starts.
4. Clear rules on who can and who can't drink during the matches. During the last matches on the last days all ccp employees that appear on the show should have a mandatory drink, commentators should however not :) at least not for the real tourney matches, or there could be a vote on the forums to select one commentator that has to have two drinks. (We could have an entirely new point system on this very important topic)
* The other part was factional warfare that i just learned isn't comming :(
