hi ive been doing a bit of mining and it seems to me that in spec, you can sell minerals like tritinium for more and things like the reprocessed plagioclasse (tritinium, mexallon and?) for less, also thing are much cheaper in low spec, ive only been to a few (3) low spec stations (0.4 0.4 and 0.5) and they all seem low, however the lowest is a 0.6 station in...i cant remeber now i might try to find out once the servers are up again but am i just lucky or is it a general rule?

It sounds like you haven't discovered the "view market details" button. This feature allows you to see all the buy and sell orders throughout the region of space you are in for any goods you have an interest in. It will save and make you loads of isk.

Look at the buy orders for the item you are selling (Minerals in this case, though you probably will make more selling the ore unless you have very high refining skill and high standings with the place you reprocess the ore.). Sort them so that the highest prices available to you in the region show at the top. The highest prices will usually only be available at a certain station or within a few jumps of a certain station (where the buy order was placed). Then look at how far that is from you and if it's worth hauling the ore or minerals within range of the buy order to sell it. If the best prices aren't worth making a bunch of jumps then find the best price available to you that you are willing to move the goods to. Hope that helps and that I haven't just completely misunderstood your concern. Good luck.

lol sure it helped, im not completely sure right now but when the servers back up i'll find out and tell you :P, sometimes i've made like 9 jumps and i just leave it to the auto while i watch tv and have the sound turned up to the max so i know wats going on, just to get to low sec, btw currently im in 0.6 i think but i getting good prices from refining veldspar, although i didnt think it at first, the amount of tritinium i get from a full cargo hold of veldspar gives more isk than plagioclasse or scordite, unfortunately i still have to find ombre :P gold ombre --------------signature------------------------ Those who show profit will pull through in the end. Edited by: Ard UnjiiGo on 12/09/2007 18:38:59 You fly auto in low sec?!! You are a gift sir. Don't stop doing it just because an evil low-sec rookie pirate thinks that's a great idea.

There's a few things in play here:
1) I'll usually pay more for ore/minerals in high sec space, because I don't want the risk of taking my hauler into low sec. 2) If I mine in low sec or 0.0, I'm going to ship it back to high sec to get the better prices. 3) If I'm buying mins/ore in low sec, I want a better price because of the risk involved in moving stuff, and I'm also less likely to get a good refining return in low sec.
Basically the prices are a product of risk management, supply and demand. Shop around for the best prices (for both buying and selling).
