How far can an individual go in T2 production. Can a single person setup a POS to mine minerals, perform reactions and survive in low-sec or does this not work without a large enough fleet to defend the POS, leaving the individual to produce T2 with purchased components?

Edited by: Petrothian Tong on 13/09/2007 17:44:00 You will quit due to frustration before you can run the whole op by yourself.
Invention: need tons of cores Moonminerals: you need more than SEVERAL POS to get everything Reaction: same as above
defendng such pos by yourself: good luck...
best just do one thing in the link..
Edit: but yeah, even invention isnt that profitable atm... everything been invented to hell and back...
I would stay out of the T2 market (unless you are just selling data cores.)

Sounds about like I suspected (though I didn't realize T2 invention was that shot out, I'll wait until the cost of invention is a small percentage of my monthly profit...). I can broaden my T1 production line and trade and build a POS for research but not go any further unless I decide to start building a large corp...

TBH 1 toon can do it but its alot of work.. The POS in low sec. you could do but they cost quite a bit to run each month esp if you dont mine ice. You will need may POS' to get the moon mins you need. Then you need the production skills all the t2 skills to produce the t2 item and be able to run 10+ factory slots. Really t2 production will cost alot to get started and run but you can make alot with luck and smarts.

Do not even consider full vertical integration. You will need multiple large POSes to build even a single T2 item. At this point you will have spent billions.
Pick something in the supply chain. Start making money with that. Then expand.

Another option is to work out some contracts with some other small time producers/reactors/inventors/moon-miners. You can always just stick to buying ship components, and building ships. This you can do in high sec. If you run enough missions, it should be easy enough for you to get a small POS set up to run the invention. Missioning for the datacores for R&D agents, missioning for non-R&D to get standing and charters. probably the easiest part of the production chain for the solo guy.
