The worst patch notes ever:
-General fixes/changes -CONCORD no instantly destroy your ship in high-sec to reduce griefing -CONCORD ships now spawn at all gates in low-sec to encourage higher population of these areas and to reduce griefing -Special exploration belts will be added to popular high-security system (0.8 or greater) with Arkonor, Bistot, and Mercoxit to help more evenly distribute resources in the economy -Upon logging off, a player will instantly be removed from space regardless of location or aggression -The GM team has been restructured and will now be managed more closely by SOE. As such, petitions can no longer be escalated to Senior GMS -Each server node will have a maximum limit of 600 users. Additional players wishing to enter the controlled system(s) will not be allowed to jump. More hardware is being added to the server cluster to account for this -Only one hundred ships will be allowed on a single "grid" at once. Any ship trying to enter the grid once this limit has been reached will warp to an adjacent grid instead Ships/Modules -In addition to invention, new T2 blueprints will periodically be seeded on through the BPO lottery -The targeting range and scan resolution penalty for Warp Core Stabilizers has been removed -Platinum Insurance now replaces 135% of the cost of your ship in order to mediate losses from destroyed modules. Uninsured ships will be reimbured of 75% ship cost -Motherships and Titans may now dock at outposts in order to facilitate the purchase, sale, and trade of these items. They can only be docked after their hangars are emptied -Starbases -All starbase structures have had their cost and hitpoints reduced by 75% in order to reduce the time needed to remove an enemy POS -Outposts now require 50% of previous construction costs -Refine time on all refinery structures has been reduced by 75%
Add your own "if SOE bought CCP" style patch notes, and pray this never actually happens...

On the plus side however, atleast the GM's might play fair. I hate SOE with a passion, but in many regards ccp seem to be modelling themselves on them.

General fixes/changes - New game combat mechanic! A brand new engine that will make every battle and epic one! Engage another ship like in every FPS you know and play! This will surely improve a lot your new game experience!
Professions - New professions into the game! Try the new exciting Jedy (TM, not to confuse with the Star Wars Jedi), the ultimate BUG hunter (yes, new space BUGS added to the game!) - Profession already in game more simple! Now a month-old miner don't have to lose his time to have an excellent refinery efficiency, and also you don't have to use blueprints, but just our Construction Toolkit (buyable offline at SOE store)
i can think at these atm

SOE takeover patchnotes, part 2
To maximize revenue potential, combat "goldfarmers" and discourage character sales, you may now purchase ISK and skill levels via micropayments to SOE. Inactive accounts will have all characters deleted 3 months after last payment.
Elite implants and elite learning skills added. To encourage active population growth, every activity you perform boosts SPs gain in all areas, but double in the relevant areas according to your current attributes, with a base value of ZERO if no actions are performed in the past 48h. To promote socializing, groups performing similar actions will see a further boost in SP gains.
You can not engage in unconsensual PvP anywhere. A war declaration is always needed. You can now declare war on NPC corporations.
Soveraignty restrictions lifted from structure anchoring. Standings requirements relaxed for structure anchoring. You can now construct outposts even in 1.0 systems if your corp has a 5.0 standing with the corresponding empire.
Personal standings now decay over time. Corporation standings are now a function of recent corp member activity rather than member averages. You will now gain or lose derived standings based on alignments of NPC or player ships destroyed. Standings changes applied instantly rather than as an average over past 15 minutes. _

Weeping and gnashing of teeth, fireballs from the sky, Eris's hair would turn white, honor tanking would be standard tactics, scamming would be banned, t2 ships and modules for full insured values, and mean players would be forced to sit in time out until their parents could come pick them up. Oh, and there'd be elves.
In short, everything good about EVE would die a slow, painful death under the ruthless oversight of SoE, until we were just EQ in Space. Dooooom. Dooom. ------------------------------------ My statements are not those of my corp or of my alliance, nor anyone else.

I would set fire to my computer, then throw the burning mass of plastic and metal out my apartment window. Turning it into a flaming-meteor raining down doom and despair upon the street below. Where passers-by and on-lookers who witnessed the flaming death-drop, would just shrug their shoulders and say "I guess SOE bought out CCP..."

What would happen if SOE bought CCP:
-SOE fires all of CCP's management, replacing them with corporate lackeys that dont know jack about the game or the community. -The developers who actually know what theyre doing get reassigned to the latest mickey mouse MMOG project. The guys left over are inexperienced, and have no real guidance due to lack of coherent management structure. -Oveur still gets to work on the project, but he has to moonlight in the tech support boiler room. -Kieron gets fired, then re-hired as a part-timer, then fired again, then re-hired, then... -New community manager hired who openly states that he hates Eve-online and its players, and randomly bans people for no reason at all. -50 new GMs hired based on who can suck up best to aforementioned new community manager. Next 2 years mark an age of wanton abuse that makes the t20 thing look like the epitome of good ethics. -No development/patches at all for 2 years. After all, this is a 'minor' game as it doesnt involve elves. When patches start up again, its completely random stuff with little bearing on what the game actually needs. -Citing the need to be family friendly, all but two of the top 25 forum posters get banned in the first month. -85% of the community eventually quits in disgust, many of them finding their way to a pirate server run by ****ed-off former GMs. -In 2012, remaining developers are let go and Eve is maintained as a legacy game after a disaterous press conference in which Smedley was quoted as saying "what's an eve?".
Double bonus points to anyone who can identify which actual SOE game takeover this is pulled from. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

updates will now cost 15.99 for minor ones(who remembers Legacy of Ykesha(sp) in EQ1?) and full price for regular ones there will be a community rep for each race(class), we will completely ignore them and nerf one race of our choosing to make Amarr look like pvp and pve gods and disreguard all evidence pointing out our #s in the nerf are excessive(as was done with enchanters in eq1)
nope, not bitter, made it to mid-upper 60s as a casual enchanter on a zek server and made it to the Dragons expansion before I walked away(I would have quit sooner but my then gf played a non nerfed class) PKKP recruitment |

I don't have any love for SoE after seeing several craptastic moves from them on several mmo's they run. I do however consider EQ2 a much better game than WoW and a decent game overall. The question is, what makes you think CCP is so much better than SoE?

A nice objective measure would be to compare active subs to SWG (my last game) with EVE. The fact that a company with the resources of SOE and a Star Wars license can screw things up to the point where a little company like CCP has 3x the subs in EVE should tell you all you need to know.
SOE is pretty lousy in an amazing amount of ways. :)

Well I could make a rant that would make your eyes fall out and your brane asplode about why SOE sucks and CCP doesnt, but it basically boils down to this: Sony has some bright people but a lot of them dont really understand or appreciate whatever project theyre assigned to, and as best I can tell they have a sort of see-no-evil corporate culture where problems dont get taken care of until things are way out of hand. FWIW my bad experiences with them werent related to EQ or SWG (though SWG is the game the devs in my example got put on), though I got a sort of birds eye view of the implosion of both titles. Kind of sad really, since EQ was sort of the granddaddy of modern MMOGs. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

WoW wasn't my bag, but they do a good job with polish. I guess I'd agree that they are godlike in comparison to SOE, and I bet quite a few SOE employees would privately agree.
