Will I get a Temp ban and how long?

I called them A-holes in local using the whole word. in response he told me to STFU twice and "DIE" I know i cursed and am wondering if I will get a warning or a few day ban. also telling someone to "DIE" cant that be taken as a life threat? and of course abbreviated of curses is penalized to. So im assuming the other person will be in more trouble than me.

However, if you feel that these people threatened your physical person (not your ingame character), you can file a complaint about it with the GM's and they could very well be banned from the game forever. One of the more imfamous *****s from the Crime and Punishment section threatened to kill someone over a scam, and was banned for forever. I don't remember his name offhand, but he was a douche from what I read.

Usually you have to make much more direct threats or use highly abusive, racist, or sexual language to worry about that.

But usually they get banned next, for making dumbass petitions that clog the system for legit complaints. As for the 'threat' I dont really think thats petitionable. I highly highly doubt he was threatening your person in any way at all. "I'm going to find out where you live and harm you" is a threat. Telling someone in game to "Die" isn't. (At least insofar as a threat in doing harm to your person). If all else fails, block them. Works wonders. Adapt more, whine less.

I'd be equally **ed off if I build a POS in EVE, lets say it takes me 48 hours to do so, and some random corp wardec'ed me to siege it to hell and back, as I would if I build a log cabin in the woods, lets say 48 hours again (not realistic I know) and some arsonist * sets it on fire. Effort is effort, and time is time. While works done in the real would are of greater substance/value than those in a closed virtual reality, the brain cannot distinguish between the two efforts and the possessiveness that is carried with it. While an emotional even person does understand that it is a video game, and that the losses are trival to ones survival/living of life as a whole, its not this even state of mind that reacts to having ones "** blown up". Its an instinctual reaction that causes people to smack in local, defending what they believe to be their property/claim from competition looking to take it away. Much like two dogs with a piece of meat, even if they sleep next to one another and play all day long, they will act completely irrational when it comes to whom gets the meat. Such is our nature.

Best thing to do is, just put away the keyboard, if not just turn the table on them congratulate them on the kill and ask nicely if they are still going to be around here when you come back in 4-5 weeks time. Most likely they answer yes. and you know what kind of people your dealing with. they want peopple to get upset when people swear at them they think they do great, naturally that can sometimes be linked to that they have a hard time readig words with 5 or more letters in them or if you dont hold down the shift key while typing so their bad eyesight can see the letters on the screen. many times they answer with clever codes for words even, like STFU u2m8, btw if anyone call you a STFU its bannable in some languages but only if its directed at you as person in real life. now im pretty sure most pewpew pirates wonder what STFU means in what language, and im not going to tell them.

For that to be possible, the person making the threat would need the will to do it and the ability to do it. While a threat over chat on EVE might demonstrate the will, it doesn't indicate the ability: how does he know where in the world you are? How would he find you? Could he physically reach you if he knew? Would he, as an example, fly from Sydney to London simply to assault you for some in-game offence? As for your abusiveness towards him, I think the GMs will have seen it all before and, as a previous poster has said, unless you were saying something particularly offensive, I can't imagine a bit of angry name-calling is going to warrant a ban. But, as also mentioned before, it is going to strip you of your dignity and make you look like a really bad loser.
