Epic fail? It's been active for about 24 hours. I'll be overclocking it sometime this weekend probably, aiming for 3.0 like I said in the post slightly further down.
24 hours? Man thats AGES to the computer, think what you have put it through 3.2ghz at lower than stock volts is what anandtech managed to get.
I've heard of companies (scan, OCUK) overclocking to 4ghz with stock cooling systems ---

Dont buy Alienware, I have only heard bad thongs about them from people I know who have bought them, and also apprantly they use cheap parts!!! If you want a uber extream gaming machine you should go to www.vadim.co.uk. They make some 2 people blew a **** load of money on there computers from there, and they have a good reputation and customer service from what I have been told.
Though there PC's can run up to 10k (sterling) if you go for top of the ranger everything

Well the point of the new computer is for work.. and my budge it huge so i figured why not build it to be so fast and so powerful with a dedicated T1 line, so that if im lagging in game.. Its cause of the servers and not anything on my side.
Unfortunately, Gm's have been unable to give me a computer setup that can do that.. -Sweet sig- We are Recruiting |

Originally by: torswin As stated, you should limit yourself to around 2000 USD.
That rule of thumb has held up fairly well over the past twenty years or so. Even back when I was pricing cp/m computers, a pretty good set up cost about $2000.
Budget computers have gotten better, though. If you know what you're doing, you can get a pretty decent gaming rig for around 1000-1200 USD...not as good as a $2000 rig, but a "better bang for the buck".
