I am interested in purchasing a new computer, ive got about 6 grand to blow and want to go through the roof super computer.
My question is, What Computer setup would play eve lag free and keeping the budget under 6000 USD.
(note, I have a T1 Connection to this computer for business)
*As a side note* I did petition asking about a computer to run eve lag free, and the Gm's kindly told me to come to the forums as they were not able to answer the question*

If you (I'm guessing this) mean a PC which can run eve fine FPS-wise, you wont need anywhere near 6000 USD.
My current rig -
2GB DDR2 667mhz Ram Core2Quad Q6600 GO 2.4ghz Radeon x1950 Pro Sapphire 256mb Asus P5K mobo
Just frapsed a 150 man fight with my FPS limit set to 30, and the only time it dropped below was when a Titan cynoed in, or when 10 carriers cynoed in at once. That's on max settings with 8x AA, 16x AF
Only costs about $2000 ---

A pentium II with a decent 100$ video card can run eve lag free, eve lag isnt client side, its server side. -----

I have a bridge you might be interested in... Now seriously, if you spend over 2000$ on a PC, no offense, you must be loaded and stupid at the same time. _

None. 'Lag' is a combination of many variables....some of which are completely unrelated to your computer. No machine will be lag free. While $6k will provide you with a very nice rig, you will not be lag free.
Cheers.

As stated, you should limit yourself to around 2000 USD. If you don't want to build yourself you can probably get a nerdy friend to help you or get a package-pc such as dell or something.

You would be better off investing $6000 in developing a time machine. This would allow you to jump 500 years into the future and steal the technology that would make it possible to play lag free.
If you are going to upgrade your PC I would suggest holding back a few months until more DX.10 cards become available.

How about an intel quad core in there? And back to 666 mhz memory (unless you really want to waste money or overclock the extra mhz won't be used anyway) Also, replace motherboard with high-end socket 775 motherboard. Oh, and an A-brand PSU in there.. watts isn't everything, quality is.

I just built a machine with a 2.8 Ghz Athalon dual cored processor, 2 gig of ram, and an NVidia 7800GT video card. I have zero client side lag. The whole thing cost me far less than $1,000 and that was awhile back.
Spend about $800-$1,000 on your computer and get a good monitor. Then save the rest. In a year or two, when your computer starts to show its age, go out and buy another $1,000 system. Doing it this way will guarantee you have a state of the art computer for at least a decade. Doing it your way will leave you with an outdated system in three years.

Actually i was referring that your setup will probably outrun the other guy's setup. The new core2duo / quad architecture kicks ass. Also, watch your PCI-E frequency while clocking, but i probably don't have to tell you that
Also, i don't think anyone can run eve lag free. Fleetbattles will always be laggy with the current engine, and if it will run smooth with the new engine, everyone will just bring bigger numbers, resulting in the same lag as before...

I know you were referring to the awesomeness of my system, I was just bragging a little more
Also, I think there's a limit that's been hit atm. Yes, people will bring more eventually, but upgrade or not that will happen. At the moment, people bring 250 because they have 250 active. They all want a fight. They don't have an extra 300 sat aside just waiting for the upgrade before they start fighting ---

I have the above and I play Eve lag free, yes, even in large 100 v 100 fleet battles. Might have a bit of lag when they jump in and decloak, but after a few seconds I have no lag and get kill mails galore.
