Hail and Quake still have a real damage advantage since T1 Minnie ammo is gimped and that carries over into their faction ammo. But for the others I agree, they need help badly.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

Originally by: Butter Dog I'd never pre-emtively load void. Ever. Faction antimatter is so much better and almost the same damage (inevitably higher when you factor in the better tracking).
All the short range ammo's are utterly useless. I cannot think of a single reason to use any of them over and above the faction alternatives.
Not an issue with webbed Battleships, and with the longer range of Void, plus higher thermal damage component, you are likely doing more damage than an AM equiped counterpart.
Short range T2 railgun ammo is a severe mess though...
Note 'pre-emptively'.
I don't run around with Void loaded because in most scenarios is much worse than faction AM. IF you meet a battleship and web him, you're better off carrying on using the faction AM than losing 10 seconds of DPS from reloading, given the small differences anyway.
Void and Null really need to be taken back to how they were 6-ish months ago, without the ridiculous OTT penalties. I mean, people spend months training for T2 large guns and what is the reward? T2 ammo which performs much worse than faction in 90% of circumstances.
Agreed about Javelin - what a joke. Seriously. And not a funny one.

I did, once. I asked a corpmate to stop his ship so I can hit him properly with my Wolf to test my damage. Other then that, no

Originally by: Spenz Speaking of T2 shortranged ammo, has anyone ever used Javelin T2 hybrid charges? Am I the only one who finds them to be the worst ammo you could possibly get?
You get:
Cap penalty speed penalty....per gun! (killer with any ship that has more than 5 turrets) tracking penalty shield HP penalty range penalty
For what? Ick that ammo makes me vomit a little in my mouth.
Damnn i didn't knew that, but then when i saw my enyo dropping to 120m/s i should have thought that something was wrong. In general i agree this penalty is horribly implemented.

I agree that something needs to be done. Especially to close range T2 ammo for long range guns (Javelin et.c.). I'm not so sure about the OPs idea, I'm more in favour with tuning the penalties slightly, but something is better than nothing.
T2 close range missiles also need some work, atm they are probebly even worse off than most other T2 ammo. Exactly the same damage as their faction counterparts and horrible penalties.

Yeah.. I found that the combination of having to reduce orbit distance and the speed penatly worked in almost perfect tandem, 1/4 of the range at 1/5 speed. Of course, now you cant move at all if you expect to hit anything with Hail, so the speed tank is out of the window.

Tbh I never understood the heavy penalties to t2 ammo... you train the living hell out of yourself just to get it and once you have it you're suffering from some hidious side-effect. Ever tried a thrasher with t2 artillery and quake ammo? wow... a dread would outrun you easily.
So I agree, less penalty on t2 ammo.

Hail still does more base DPS than Fleet EMP, and it has preferable damage types to take out armour tanks. However, it would be nice if it would actually hit. Ever. Transversal greater than 0m/s? Oh dear, lots of white damage messages, and very little yellow.
I agree, sensibly unnerf T2 ammo. ______________________
