This has bothered me for quite some time. With guns you see them visible on the ship. You see them rotate and track and you see the beams (or whatever) eminate from them when they fire. It is visially appealing and makes for better screenshots and just looks cool.
WTH is with missiles? I fire all 8 Turrets out of a Rokh and BOOM! all 8 go off and you see 8 rails a spewing antimatter in awesome fashion. I fire 6 Wrath cruise missiles from my Raven and I see a GLOB of all my missiles fire form the center of my ship. A Drake has all those nice missile looking bay on it. Non functional. They dont do anything.
With the Graphics update it would be nice to see missile bays rotate and pivot and if my drake fires 7 heavies at once to see seperate tails going off to my target.
Anyone else think so?
Right now missiles look like they are stuck in beta. Not finished and unpolished.

I agree, had the same thought's since day 1. Im not sure but i think it's a safe bet that in rev3 missile bay's will be visible with animations and all that good stuff \o/. /me dreams on |

Yes, I totally agree. It's really not a big issue to fix either. you just have to move the coordinates for the missile launching (so instead of it beeing in the middle of the ship it will actually be where the launchers are) and model and animate some launchers.

I have not heard a word from ccp anywhere if they will update turret graphics and if they will add actual missile launchers, so I fear the worst.
Also not a word on larger and enhanced planet graphics en more realistic space views.
It would be most excellent if they would give all of the above a graphical boost as well as ship and station models.

Actually, I have a feeling you don't. Certainly last time I checked, only 6 of the Rokhs turrets 'actually' fired. They all track, but no 'zap'.
This may have changed - I haven't flown one in a couple of patches.
BUt yes. I agree. Missiles just aren't satisfying enough to fire. Torps just about manage it, with their 'omg that's going to hurt' explosions, and their 'woosh' when you launch them, but ...
Well, at the very least missiles need to scatter a bit when firing, so they're not just a blob. And ideally all come out separate launchers, too.
And even better if the launchers had colours, so you could see what kind, and how many torpedos were loaded. That would rock. (I mean, you can tell what kind of turret, and whether it's T2 just by eyeballing a gunship, so you should be able to on a missile boat)

I know that EM missiles glow blue when you fire them, always thought that was cool. As a drake pilot i always hoped those launchers on the side had some functionality, but alas. Also anyone notice how the drake has 8 launchers ports, but only 7 launcher hardpoints?

Something along the lines of "we're hoping to look at turrets after the models/textures and engine are done". Supposedly they don't want it to be 'one size fits all' as it is now. I would assume that missile bays would be done at the same time.
Personally, I think that the turrets, missile bays and weapons effects are in need of an update more than the textures and models.

All the missiles are subtley different colours when in flight. But ... well it's most obvious with the EM ones, as the others are varying degrees of 'reddish white'
I think the Drake _might_ have ended up with 8 launchers, before they realised that that would be sick and wrong - it's far easier to 'not fill' a hardpoint, than it is to add one into the model later. (Which is one of the reasons the extra turret on the Ferox is a slow process)

its not only an issue of a better looking ship, but rather a tactical disadvantage to not be able to tell what weaponlayout for example a raven you wanna engage has. i seriously hope they gonna fix it in revIII

You can skip all the bs at the beginning right to 1:30 (you can skip to 1:30 even if it hasn't downloaded that far) where you can see a missile impact a destroyer as it launches a volly out. the missiles launch verticle, then correct themselves once clear of the ship. Awesome effect.

I compleatly agree, thats one of the biggest proublems i see in eve. And why dont the shields flicker when they get hit? That would improve the game so much, not sure what it would do to the lag though....

At any rate, I'd love it if they just didn't go from the center of the ship - although having missile bays rotate & everything I wouldn't really like. Messes up the preety looks of my ships ;P

It would be very nice to get launcher effects on the ships. As it stands they do look a little unfinished. ------------

It is not that simple. The missiles follow a path to intercept the target. Even if you just moved the launch point to wherever you want it to be, the missiles would all immediately move into the same path and it would look exactly the same as it does now, with a small blip from the launch point to the path. That is not worth the effort of making a bunch of new points for missile launches on all the ships.

I'd also like all the turrets on my harbinger to actually graphically fire when I'm facing the enemy... I have to bank and... FIRE PORT SIDE CANNONS! *pew pew* *ASPLODE* in order for them to do anything 
otherwise just the one on the top fires. bit of an anticlimax after pushing all those keys.

The graphic for capital launchers look like turrets but sam-site ish. They are supposed to be the size of frigates  ---------------------------------

would be cool to see missiles get launched from both sides of a ship, and maybe the back and front as well. The crow has launchers on its back i think. Too bad the missiles dont come out of it.

I personally like the Medium/Large rail-gun sound, through headphones and a X-Fi Sound blaster with 3D and Reverb effects they are pretty powerful sounding "Phooom!! Clank"

the Raven does have visible Tubes if you zoom in on it. though it doesnt have enough tubes to match launcher hardpoints.
but it would be cool to see a Launcher box pop out and track a target like the ones on RL navy ships do when locking onto an enemy aircraft.

I want a friggin' HW2 battleship in EVE.
2 dual ion cannons, ****loads of pulsar turrets and some balistic turrets aswell.
let's not forget the docking bay too, and the ability of having 2 support modules in it.
...now that I think of it, I thin that a hyperion would pretty much bbq a HW2 battleship ---

you think thats bad? try a tristan. no empty missile points and they just manifest from the center. looks very odd particularly on a frigate
