As I sit here watching the entering the game screen for going on 10 minutes, it occurs to me that Jita badly needs a bypass building around it. I'm sure there are a large number of people who just need to pass through Jita to get where they are going, and have no interest in stopping there to trade.
I suggest that it would be a good idea for an additional Stargate to be added to each of the systems linked to Jita, forming a bypass around Jita. An additional autopilot option allowing us to specify systems to be avoided would also work very well with such a bypass.
Excellent, as I wrote this I finally managed to get into Jita. Now I'm settling in for the long wait for my exit Stargate to win its battle with lag and let me out.....

Not a bad idea. For most routes you can bypass with 1 extra jump, but of course autopilot doesnt show this. Another option would be to be able to specify a list of systems you want autopilot to avoid. This would also be useful for setting up more realistic routes, since for instance I may not care about lowsec as a rule but I want to avoid perma camped systems like Rancer and theres not really any way to specify this now without manually setting waypoints. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Moving stargates around won't solve the jita lag issues. Jita lags so badly because it's a heavily used system and that's because it's the trade hub of the universe. People go there deliberately, they don't pass through it when autopiloting from A to B very often. A bypass or reconfiguring stargates won't stop people going to jita en masse.

Actually that is not true. Everyone doing missions in saila/motsu/aramachi/etc has to pass through jita to get anywhere in many cases. A bypass would stop a lot of traffic.

What I said is true. The vast majority of people in jita are not passing through on autopilot or going to do a mission, they're going there deliberately. As far as I know, they actually DID switch stargates around so jita would be on less autopilot routes and it didn't affect numbers at all. Another bypass won't solve these issues but it's worth looking into at least. Only the devs really know how many people in jita are passing through.

Agreed. But at least if there was a bypass people who are just passing through would not have to put up with the lag :)

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 17/09/2007 16:36:10 I avoid jita like the plague. Lastnight I heard that there were 767 people in that system. Not to mention that someone is using suicide bs's with bombs to kill ships. Which from what I hear is very effective as the ships are dead before concord has an opportunity to state their opinion. What would be good for the nav system is a feature that would give the pilot the option to avoid any particular system on a permanant basis or a single time basis. Simply by typing the system name. This could also eliminate alot of passing thru traffic in that system. Not sure how much lag that would eliminate but any reduction is good. Especially with that system. Nyphur, Good job on the animation of your characters pic on your website. I thought I was seeing things at first. Almost poured out my Jack Daniels whiskey.
