I kind of dread the server reaching 40k people online at the same time. --------------------

I've trained up Daytrading to level 2 with the specific intent of avoiding Jita at peak hours. I'm sure that wasn't the original reason for seeding the skill, but I might as well spread the word... My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

The sad thing is that the EVE servers can actually handle the amount of people that are online for the most part. The only problem is that those people happen to like piling themselves into one system. Then they complain about lag, and then continue to pile into Jita anyway.

Actually I tried my best NOT to file a stuck petition in Jita, but after a total of 1.5 hrs (consisting of jumping in to jita, docking and trying to sell expensive module, the undocking) I had to file a petition anyway.

3 days after the server crashing problems are fixed, and here we have new record numbers. Nice :)
Hopefully this record will not be followed by another spate of random crashing

When people talk about people crowding in one system - this is true to a certain extent. But if you take a look at the statistics on the map you'll find that every single station system will have at least 1 person in it.
Now that amazes me. Every single system that has a station has at least 1 person in it. It took me 2 hours to find a 0.5 system with a station nearby which was completely empty. And even then the asteroid belts weren't that big. The only places that aren't really populated are the dead end low sec systems and 0.0 travelling systems.
Empire needs more girth tbh. ---

Lies, you just copypastad that from the coldfront site. Get some more accurate numbers from your DB crew!
Anyway, congrats CCP
Feels a bit weird tough. CCP: Look at how many people we have in our unsharded server! Players: FIX JITA FFS!
But mweh, Jita is only 0.018% of the whole game, soo, still. Congrats, and lets hope the lag doesn't get much worse while the numbers increase steadily...

I guess you were just joking, but just to set the record straight, that number is an internal number and not taken from the Coldfront site, or any other site.

I agree that both empire and .0 should be bigger, but they also need better resource distribution. Right now we got blobs around highsec systems L4 ql10+ agents that dont border lowsec, blobs around 0.0 conquerables/NPC stations, and vast tracts of space that dont have any redeeming qualities. Its not hard to find empty space, but currently you have to travel to one of the populated areas to do anything which makes empire feel a lot more crowded than it otherwise could be.
But the gameworld does need to be expanded, back when I started we were doing good to get 10K on at once and its just not the same eve no more _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?
