Wow, there's so many good FCs out there, hard to name 5.
from the old days when good FC were invented and made fun fleets battles:
Duke for his caution and amazing situational awareness ( let's roll )
Xirtam for his suicidal tendancies and faith in his soliders to win the fight.
Thol and skull, gunny and omaha & 12speed etc - for their ice cool heads during the fight, their tone of voice, and confidence seemed to spurr the noobs on to victory.
Script, somehow when u was in a fleet with him u just knew you'd win.
The newer FCs are tricky, cos i'v not flown with many.
I won't mention BOS FCs,
But Suas/Tolon get's a mention, back in our corp he learned the ropes from us and the FCs in the five/BoB, (practiced using the goons/OSS), and i'm sure now is a thorn in their side :P
It's an absolute blast listening in on his fleets nowadays, they seems so much more fun that the fleets of old, where " serious business " was the order of the day.
If anyone ever makes a soundboard of him like they did Xirt, u will laugh your arses off at what he says.
Shamis is also a cool FC, he gets us to do the most insane things, using insane tactics far from considered " the norm " and we somehow usually come out on top... which is very refreshing for us seasoned vets.

Ernest Graefenburg - knows game mechanics better than anybody.
lordmix - With him calling targets and me handling fleet positioning.
phonix - was a solid FC back when he played. His ability to assemble 50 people that didn't know each other and get them to fight for him was astounding.

Flown with many, here are the ones that stand out.
Blacklight - Made fleet battles fun.
Phonix - Fast thinker and decision maker.
TerminusX - Just overall very solid FC.
Lamb Chop (Loved flying with him. When noone understood what he was saying he just swore till we got the point :) )

I think that some replies upper is not correct.
Because there are not many fleets in Eve, but many gangs.
And gang leader, who commands squad with 20-30 ships, is not FC.
IMHO, FC is only that leader, who commands one hundred ships and more (different classes).
