Originally by: RuriHoshino The attempted Star Wars intro was allright, but it's gonna be tough to beat the frickin' h-bomb 1950's Safety Advisory You Could Die At Any Moment intro. If you've never seen Atomic Cafe then I highly recommend that as a general introduction to Cold War paranoia in the US. Blinky's public service announcement was tame compared to some of the stuff they laid on civvies back in the day.
Also, bump until it's properly stickied.
Oh yeah, the old war era stuff is hilarious now, it's a wonder people weren't afraid of their own shadows. Then again, with the cavalier attitude towards the use of nukes back then, I can't really blame them.

They have video of priests demanding that we use nukes to maintain American power! It seems like you were either scared to death of being atomised, or gun-ho about dropping "the big one" whenever someone looked at you askance. I wrote my senior research paper on the early missile shield systems we built before the ABM treaty, and the public hysteria was amazing.
What's also scary is seeing the same rhetoric used back then being recycled for todays news. Gods I wish more people studied history.
Also, BUMP.

Was that really Churchill? I have a feeling he may have just popularised it, feels like the kind of thing that has been around forever.
Ah, here we go.
Also, while Winterblink might rock at kitsch podcast intros, he clearly does not rock at making Urban's signature. That message has been there forever too.
Also also, MOARBUMP

According to Wikiquote it was Churchill, but as you said, I'm sure a lot of people have said it over the years.

See, what's cool is when you say something like "we have a cunning plan," I can imagine just what you sound like when you say it. If people knew what I sound like in real life, they'd never speak to me for fear of hearing my voice
BTW, I think Churchill got credit for a lot of sayings that he didn't come up with, but that's okay, since he won WWII for you guys. You can get away with that when you're the champion of freedom in Europe.
I'd better get the bump prize for all this...

I hope I sound rather like Baldrick when I say it!
Do not dismiss the power of Baldricks cunning plans though, In July 1989 sombody wrote "Don't worry chaps, Baldrick has a cunning plan" on the berlin wall and within 6 months it had fallen! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of Clever Plans, it'd be tough to get someone who could do a reasonable mock-up of the voice, but a take on the intro to Samurai Jack would be pwnsauce intro for #14.

There were noob guides? I was thinking it would be great if WDA did some (digs through old show summaries)

I see what you did there.
Very tricksy. Do any of these other podcasts have to do with Internet Space Ships? If not, then you're the only game in town. There used to be Podded, which was cute, but that's been gone for some time.

I think WDA is just about it for Eve podcasts. The VirginWorlds podcast is typically just one guy going over the past week's MMO news. He covers Eve news, but probably nothing informed Eve players don't already know. It's a really good show, though, if you just like to keep up with nerdy things in general.
Comutiny is pretty generalized, too... But they do sing about the Wii. Ten points.
