Every week in the Warp Drive Active PodCast Winterblink (The Canadian) and Urban Mongral (the Brit) will bring you the goings on in EVE (except for the stuff we miss, forget or deliberately ignore).
Warp Drive Active Podcast is part of the VirginWorlds Podcast Collective
Click here to listen/download Episode 13
We kick of unlucky show 13 by talking about our weeks. Blinky has been partaking in more IAC kicking in the great war in the south while Urban has found a new place to live and will be moving soon(tm).
The lads discuss Faster than light comms, sound from pods, and the new EVE Chronicles.
Tyraxx looses his Aeon mothership which he nicked from BOB a few weeks ago. Easy come easy go!
Meanwhile BOB looks like they are performing a scorched earth retreat from Omist.
In the constant madness of the North, it looks like Fallen Souls are loosing quite a few of their recently gained systems.
For the first time in the history of CAOD, a thread appears where everyone is being nice!!! Even Burn Eden!. Many congratulations to HUN for making history for a second time.
Oveur writes a huge dev blog about the sexiness which will be in Revelations 3.0.
Sadly though, CCP Ginger tells us in his Dev blog, that there won't be factional warfare.
For homework this week, Urban would like you to check out police squad! One of the best TV shows ever.
Thanks to the joys of Skype we are able to introduce a new feature. Call Us, and leave a message on what you would like to see in Rev 3. Our Skype name is Warp.Drive.Active
Beyond that, just the usual random sidetrackage, gibbering and tinfoil hattery.
Lead out tune "Stick 'em Up" by Quarashi.

I was literally going through it in my mind saying exactly the same things you guys were saying on the podcast, just a few seconds earlier. Throws you straight into the story, don't know what the hell is going on, and Val Kilmer.

You know, I should really get working on a blooper cast, just an additional file to check out one week which has our bloopers from various shows. Because there's a ton of them. :)

The attempted Star Wars intro was allright, but it's gonna be tough to beat the frickin' h-bomb 1950's Safety Advisory You Could Die At Any Moment intro. If you've never seen Atomic Cafe then I highly recommend that as a general introduction to Cold War paranoia in the US. Blinky's public service announcement was tame compared to some of the stuff they laid on civvies back in the day.
Also, bump until it's properly stickied.

Oh yeah, the old war era stuff is hilarious now, it's a wonder people weren't afraid of their own shadows. Then again, with the cavalier attitude towards the use of nukes back then, I can't really blame them.

They have video of priests demanding that we use nukes to maintain American power! It seems like you were either scared to death of being atomised, or gun-ho about dropping "the big one" whenever someone looked at you askance. I wrote my senior research paper on the early missile shield systems we built before the ABM treaty, and the public hysteria was amazing.
What's also scary is seeing the same rhetoric used back then being recycled for todays news. Gods I wish more people studied history.
Also, BUMP.

See, what's cool is when you say something like "we have a cunning plan," I can imagine just what you sound like when you say it. If people knew what I sound like in real life, they'd never speak to me for fear of hearing my voice
BTW, I think Churchill got credit for a lot of sayings that he didn't come up with, but that's okay, since he won WWII for you guys. You can get away with that when you're the champion of freedom in Europe.
I'd better get the bump prize for all this...

I think WDA is just about it for Eve podcasts. The VirginWorlds podcast is typically just one guy going over the past week's MMO news. He covers Eve news, but probably nothing informed Eve players don't already know. It's a really good show, though, if you just like to keep up with nerdy things in general.
Comutiny is pretty generalized, too... But they do sing about the Wii. Ten points.

<3 anything of Stephensons, really. Even his small books contain huge ideas, and they're all told just as beautifully. Snow Crash is very old-school cyber punk, and The Diamond Age is a worthy successor that explores a different aspect of "future tech." The Big U is an endearing and clever tale about being lost in the bowels of university during the early days when IT was still being defined. I think the only old work of his I haven't read is Zodiac. Anyone have opinions?
I ordered volumes 2 and 3 of The Baroque Cycle off of Half.com for about $30, which I am excited about. For my money, these are the best historical novels, period.

That's the most unique bump I've seen yet.
Also, if you haven't seen it check out the free episode of EVE TV they're hosting. Apparently, they'll be covering the Frigates of Fury event.
My name's #3 on the list of participants. I have no idea what I'm going to do besides asplode.

Bar tournaments and the like, I find a shiny new package with *PEW PEW PEW* inscribed on the front in nice, calming, rounded letters at the Virgin Worlds MMO podcast collective site when I log in on Monday morning.
It downloads to my MP3 player in seconds, and I log off vent and TS and go earn some money while Urban Mongral and Winterblink entertain me with their antics for about 90 minutes

P.S. Bump

Well, we have at least one more whole day to go. I might just give this up to Arkk, I don't know that I have the stamina to keep up this bumping pace.
See you on Monday, though.

It's not stamina it's an escape while on a fleet op with a competent FC. You usually win, but you have to wait at gates for the optimal time to jump in and gank your opposition. As the alternative is to watch local with goonies smacking you constantly, I use the advantages of TS and tab out to the forums, tabbing back to eve when something happens
Certainly beats the garbage that goonies spew

Yeah 14's going to be a bit late since Urban moved (you'll hear all about that in the coming ep).

D'oh, I spoke too soon. Guess I'll just have to keep bumping this one until Mongral unpacks the new one from the cardboard box he packed it in. If he's anything like me, he won't have marked that the box has the podcast in, so it could be a while, while he searches for it

Urban, leave the boxes, forget about the decorating. We NEED WDA!!!!
Seriously, thanks for a quality podcast and giving me something to listen to in the car besides thumper-thumper music and the droll tones of radio4 ;)

PS: You bumpers should be ashamed of yourselves. I'd never consider doing such a thing!
