Every single one of our ships look like the love child of Mick Jager and Courtney Love. I don't care how poor/abused/******** Minmatar are suppose to be, no self respecting engineer would make this crap.
I officially request that CCP sack their graphics team and bring in some Asians.

What minmatar ships lack (if that's your opinion) in form, they more than make up for in function.

yeah and think about it, if 4 of your stabbers get poped you can make a typhoon out of th wrecks easily

Working on a game's pre-production myself and having a nose at the models, Caldari seem to have been devoloped very early on or given to a less expericnced member of the art team.
If you look at the way the Raven was texture mapped you'll see how very simply mapped it is. They UV placement isn't very optimised.
Minmatar may have been originally modelled / concepted at the same time.

regardless of their looks, they are the best race ships in the game...damage output, and speed tanking ftw.

i think what most minnie pilots want are some degree of verticle symatry
on ships like the vagabond and the phoon
most of all i love how my minnie ships look like the tempest, nidhoggur, hurricane, wolf. and i also feel that they are the most realistic on how ships would look for a race of thier back story.
after all the tempest is pretty much the only ship with a pirate sail on it

But seriously, i cant understand why people hate the matari ships so much. I have to admit that the Typhoon looks hidious. Other than that they are pretty much punk, rock and attitude. Speed and smoking shells spewing out of the autocannons; no time to look pretty.
Aesthetically i'd argue that the Rifter and Hurricane are even one of the best looking ships in the game. Personally i like the Tempest very much too. But my love for that ship must also have something to do with years of duct-tape jokes and screw you Caldari pussies attitude.
These are ofcourse matters of taste, but to the OP i'd say that not EVERY single one of our ships look like something spit out of Courtneys womb. Just pimp up that Rifter and enjoy the essence of cool

Rifter, Wolf, Jaguar (yes i know there all the same hull, thats the point) Maelstrom and Hurricane all make up for any lack of good design elsewhere imo

I like the evolving look of Matari ships. If the Hurricane and Maelstrom had just looked like more flying scrapheaps it'd be another story... but then in a few months it wouldn't matter anyway because I believe that the older ship models are also getting a nice revamp in Trinity 2.
There's an example of a before-and-after Thrasher in the Trinity 2 movie. It's original patchwork armor now looks a little more like the plates used on the newer Matari ship types, indicative storyline-wise of a universal overhaul of all the Republic's ships I'd guess.

I love that ship, my first character was a minnie and i would cruise around in that ship, even if i could fly BSs and other ships.
and just wondering does anybody else think that the hoarder the middle indy for min looks like some kind of hover train, with the little side arms

yes it really does, i was able to fly one for ages, but never did, when one day i find myself in need of a hauler and i'm in matari space with not a single iteron in sight.
I actuley moved back in my seat and did a double take on it as i boarded it, think i also very likeley said out loud: "WTF is THIS?"

I agree with the original poster. Minmatar ships seem to be designed with an ambition to visually revolt. You have gems like Hurricane and then the rest are abortions like Cheetah, Tempest, Stabber, Scythe... and so on.
On the other hand Gallente and Amarr make some of the most beautiful boats i've seen.
All of course in the eye of the beholder.

As a rule Minmatar gets 1 good looking ship per class:
Frigate: Rifter
Battlecruiser: Hurricane
Battleship: Maelstrom
Cruiser: Uehhrrr... uhh.
