This Sunday, Last Sunday I have been involved in two Battleship kills of an enemy pirate who keeps bothering my corp and I realised the simple fact I am not gonna pod kill anyone deliberately. I am gonna defend my friends and drive off the menace and destroy his/her ship, but what would be the point of killing the pilot? Is this a carebear miner thing? Or are there pirates who feel the same.

We always try to podkill. As a reminder of what can happen if you don't pay the ransom.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

Podkilling the pirate robs him of implants which he uses to train skill which he uses to deal more damage etc etc. basically if someone is messing with you hit em with all you got! -------

Well look at it this way, he would definately pod you and take ALL your loot if he had the chance. If someone crosses your path and screws with your corp, you gotta take them down, and you gotta take them down so frekin hard just to get the point across.
Hopefully they didnt get an up to date clone and will spend the next 3 months learning their lesson. If not you still would have cost them 40mil of implants.
Have no sympathy kill em, kill em all! |

er cripes.. Doesn't it seem a little cruel as you already deprived them of a ship? I like the idea of someone going home in their little escape pod. Surely if you kill the ship surely thats enough damage done.

We podkill in several instances:
1) Rat alt scouting us - podkilling them sends them back to their cloning fridge and out of our system 2) Rat character - bye bye implants and hello cloning fridge 3) Rat with a bounty - see above + some additional isk
If you aren't a rat alt or a rat we probably wouldn't have fired on you. I've let non-rat pods trying to get back to empire from 0.0 pass unmolested. We just want rats and their corpses =============== Killboard: http://www.celeskills.com

I wont pod unless I know they have harmed alot of other people other wise I feel once they are no longer a threat, let them leave the field and its not like youll get their implants if you killed them that and with most the major pvpers not bothering with implants and clone hoping, your not doing anything but wasting your ammo ------------------------------------------------ Do not let the world change you. Like a few nights ago I had a Dominix all webbed/warp scrambled; I offer a small ransom to let him go, and the guy trys to log off, so he really deserved to be podded, I hope he had implants.

Yes been a carebear miner/factory manager/ wanna-be econmic dominator for a long time now. I have been involved in 3 pirate bs kills. Haven't killed a single pod. Maybe I should hire one of you guys to do the execution

Yeah, when camping empire its always good to pod kill, other wise you get "Tenacha is camping the Korama gate" shouted all over local.
Plus I used to work out the ships destroyed and pods destroyed as a percentage and that was my grade for that day
Also usually when people get blown up out in deep space, they never whine about it or try to warn others off. It just goes to show the different mentalities of people who are willing to take risks, and those who are not.

Whoops, almost got involved in a podding today. We got a new recruit today, so I gang him tell what we are doing, first or maybe second thing he asks 'Can I have access to Hangar 1 plz'.I ignore this they can survive without hangar 1 for a while , So he comes to our belt where we have been drilling for a while and he shoots at a can of mine. He gets highlighted straight-away as threat so I figure 'Greifer' and then I put him in a pod. He then hovers his pod over to one of cans to stop missles. So we Jam him good and send an alt to execute him. The alt fires real slow and weakly and he logs out.

Pod killing is a time honored tradition among the pvp world of eve.
Do I always pod kill? no.
Bad apple alt? POD KILL no questions. You got bounty? pod kill You been an @ss/griefer? web/scramble your pod pay a few mil more for those implants. no pay? pod kill. You kill my m8? web/scramble your pod pay a few mil more for those implants. no pay? pod kill. Consentual Battle with minimal **** talk? splash damage podding only.
Podding may sound usless, but if there pod is still there floating around, they get to tell all their friends, who is there, what there doing and so on and so forth.

just my view... if he is a know pod killer and pirate, burnt corpse he becomes .. if he is just another corp in the wrong place at the wrong time, i wont pod him intentionally although its hard to not splash his pod with torps :/

Hmm... it depends.
In 0.0 I always podkill anyone in a noob ship as they are most likly a spy. Mostly my podkills are the result of all the missiles clobbering the ship.
When in a major conflict I pretty much save the pods for last. I'm battle I'm trying to kill the big ships.
If I like you I will not podkill you, especially if you put up a good fight and don't talke too much smack.
If your one of those teenage irratable little &*^())$#@ers you will get podkilled over and over.
Jhered out!

Edited by: toaster on 18/02/2004 19:36:16 I don't think pod killing is necessary either, unless it's for good reason. Only good reasons I can think of are:
1) spy/alt in system, must be sent home. This includes those that want to stick around and spy in their pod. 2) They are being a total *****. They would have to be smack-talking-kiddies for me to do it for this reason. I can deal with some swearing/name calling/general ****edoffedness since we did after all, just destroy their ship. 3) You're at war with them and want to cause them the most monetary damage possible.
Other than that, there is no legitimate reason that I can see. ------------------------------------------------

in times of war, I ALWAYS pod kill. This usually gets the greasy bastadge out our space, or if they set their clone in our space, it makes the situation rather dicey for them to buy another clone. ______________________
