Hi, I am looking at out fitting my Proj, Hybrid and Lasers and was wondering what people have found to be the best ammo types for each weapon.
Thnak you in advance!

For projectile, I'd say Photon and depleted uranium rounds

Hmm the one that deals most dmg must be the best...
So antimatter EMP and multi crystals

Dunno, EMP is goood, and I like to use it for upclose weapons. But I don't wanna be using it on my 720mm for it gives me a very short range. Carbonized lead will work good for 720mm. Might not pack big punch, but it can shoot from very far away, what often results you being able to hit and your foe is still outside weapon range. ______________ System spec's: Windows XP Professional AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz Memory: 1536MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b NVIDIA GeForce4 FX 5950 Ultra 256.0 MB at 1280*1024 IIYAMA MA203DT Monitor Max Res: 1920,1440 SB Audigy Audio |

What a stupid question... The answer depends on the range, the turret and the resistance of the target.
Except for blasters and autocannons, where AM/EMP "always" is the best.

for long range fleet combat i like iridium ammo for my 425mm railguns, 84km optimal or thereabout.
thorium is good too 63km optimal
short range, antimatter 36km optimal
for projectiles, most people prefer phased plasma
lasers, most people use radio/multifreq ------

Edited by: z0e xiii on 15/02/2004 10:01:13 i prefer ammo that dishes out more damage also..
proj - sabot , hybrid - anti-matter, energy - multi
but always good to carry a mix...

im using Phased plasma on my 1400mm and doing hits like 933dmg on 50-60km away, i think its best, sure Emps is good , used it alot on my cruiser but it takes away alot of xtra range,

EMP and Lead ammo do just fine
but on 1400mms almost any ammo is good due to EXSTREAM fallout
and 47 km optimal range on 1400mms whit EMP ammo isint THAT bad what u think? -------------------------------------------

I'm a newb using some 150 rails, and I like tugnsen rounds the best. 22k range on a firgate is a good thing :) That and an afterburner and 2 overdrives, and NPC's don't hurt me :)

Your 250mm 'Scout' Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Serpentis Soldier, wrecking for 319.4 damage. |

I only have used hybrids, and all I know is from experience, you can down a ship using antimatter in half the time of thorium ammo... If you hunt NPC, this is a big plus as you want to reduce the damage you incur asap.

Edited by: Gariuys on 15/02/2004 23:07:20 Well answering this question is a bit well weird since it's answer depends on so many variables it isn't even funny. result you get a weird answer ;)
k Givens- I fly a thorax 90% of the time
- I use 3x 250 proto gauss and 2x dual 150 proto guass as my damage dealers
- I got a reasonable amount of training invested in using medium sized rails[*/]
- I use my thorax for fighting serpentis corp NPCs >50% of the time it's used in combat
- a warp in range of 40km gives enough time too kill most any kill mission cruiser spawn
[*]with 1 low slot tracking mod and a decent tracking comp I get a optimal of 35km using thorium
End result: I like thorium for my cruiser. If any of the above changes so will my ammo choice, the beauty of most of this games combat system is it's complexity and the ability too adapt too whatever you face. Choosing a ammo cause it's the "best" is impossible since it will only be the best for a given situation.

k trouble with this comment, 1) hybrids is both blasters and rails, so your comment says nothing. Since (when going of your comment )if you use blasters which will take down NPCs even faster. But using anything but antimatter in blasters is a bad idea to begin with since a blaster boat will not worry about that last 1km it's the kms you have to cover before that last km that are the problem. 2) Thorium when used in rails doesn't kill at half the speed of antimatter. Antimatter charge m= 14k/10t Thorium charge 10k/8t resulting in the fact that antimatter deals 33% more damage then thorium, however thorium gives greater range control and in the case of 90% of all npc encounters they allow you too start firing far sooner then antimatter, which is against all but the fastest mwd equiped ships is more then enough too make up for the small loss of damage. 3) Against serpentis the best way too avoid damage is too stay out of their range, this is more easily done with thorium then it is with antimatter. against guristas you need that range ever so badly to deal with the missile spam. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I use: 250mm rails: plutonium (npc purposes)
projs: I wanna use more of these, I can only fly minmatar frig 4, 720's do deal quite a bit of dmg I was using phased plasma at the time so i'll go with that (also had tachies on )
lasers (tachs): Atm... MF/radio :/ Original. I wanna test out gamma (even though i swera i hit 50 less per shot on average vs MF) and maybe test out microwave, the no thermal in radio crystals sucks with a capital S.

Phased Plasma and Photon L on Tempest
Phased Plasma on Typhoon
Add sensor boosters/amp on the Typhoon and you can add depleted Uranium next to the Phased Plasma
