Hey Finjann, Could you tell me a bit more about that error. what operating system are you using and if its 32bit or 64bit. Also what exactly are you doing when the error happens? maybe a screenshot? |

libevecache could help you integrate cache reading pretty easily. Just for future reference :-) ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

Sorry to all Vista/Windows 7 users. Seems I introduced a bug, such that the outpost cachefile save function threw an exception.
This is fixed in the new version 1.5.3! Tested in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Windows XP SP3 32 bit.
v1.5.3 - Fixed: Caching file saved in application directory, not permissable in Vista/Windows 7. Now written to application data directory. - Change: Minor text corrections in error messages. |

Happened again after a clean install of the newest version. This error appears as soon as I run the program. I'll stop posting the little error logs here in the thread. If you need any more information about my system let me know. Thanks for making a great product, regardless if it's currently running on my machine or not .

JustJake: I have no clue as to the cause of your error. I'm not familiar with the error format of Vista. Have you overclocked your system or are any other programs failing? You could try the sfc /scannow on the command line, to see if any of your system files might be damaged or tampered with.
Hmmm i think i'll implement some error logging in EMS, so i can just ask for the log, next time :) |

Busy with RL tasks. So Eve haven't received much attention lately. Will be back developing soon. Meanwhile get me some feature requests... I'll work on cache scraping next, if more pressing matters don't come up. |

Hello.. this is a suggested feature.
When I review item information from many location.. the legal pad.. it gets full. If items of interest could be checked to go on shopping or selling list. This would be useful.. then could open shopping / buying list for reference during the travel.
Or if more simple to implement.. the items could be highlighted for easy reference.. this would be also useful.
I suppose the export to excel csv would be asking too much?
Also.. the option to delete contents of the market log directory would be nice feature. I do manually now.
Is excellent program with high functionality and most useful of the market applications I see. The export cache scraping would be nice but even so.. is great application. Thank you

The race is on... Which one will get cache reading... EMS or NavBot :)
Whichever one comes first WINS!!
My hats off to you though, I can't program to save my life and I have used this along with other tools I don't know which one I prefer but I can tell you this, whoever gets Cache reading first gets my vote.

Jeneroux: good suggestions. I already had a shopping list on my TODO list. but i guess i would need to make both a buying list and a selling list. I think export to csv would be easy, but i have to check up on that. Regarding the deletion of logs, no problem. but how would you like it implemented? Just a delete button next to the region you have selected or? there already is a filter in options to set a minimum date from which you want to show logs. doesn't that do what you want? otherwise please elaborate.
SencneS: I would really like to do the cache reading, but since that would make me have to restructure large portions of the code, i really don't want to dive into it, until i have the proper time irl. That is, I still plan on doing it. Just don't know when. And i guess i should take a look at navbot :)
I'm glad you both find the application useful :) Feel free to donate some iskies I'll get that dominion update out soon.

I did not see the date filter until you mention this. This is exactement what I wanted so thank you for making this and sorry I missed.. but this function is not obvious until you look in options. My assumption is that did not exist and no thought to look deeper.
The reason I mention deletion of directory content is for simple clean up. It is easy to accumulate thousands of files in this directory. Initially when reviewing many market item the list of item becomes large. over time my item list is more refined. I see no mechanic for cleaning this directory in Eve client.. is simple housekeeping I think but easy to do manually. Would be only for convenience I think but not important.. Handy?
The seperate buying and selling list would be convenient. In Eve, I have defined route and it can require time to collect the things on my list. I buy for a week then organize and move inventory.. then the next week is to travel the selling route always reviewing market in other places. Many temporary lists of item. I have now in game clients with shopping lists for me and sometimes time is required to fill.
I know that more simple method of trade exists but the fun is the travel for me. The ships are to fly not to sit in the station. It can also take time to navigate in 0.0 and many complications in some places with problematic people. in the worst case I look for wormhole then bye bye hostile people and sometime anyplace is better place to be than where you are.
So lists are what I rely on to operate.
I notice that some item with "gunslinger" in name fail to display. this is something for the update? I drop these item but they look like profit potential.. but too much trouble to bother with.
I tried the Navbot.. was functionality not needed by me.. I know where I go.. most times. The market scanner works well for my purpose.. I keep open on second screen and work from there and lists on paper. the cache feature would be convenient but I have time.
I recommend the Eve Market Scanner to any trader but remember when you use this tool.. that the functionality is more complex than is obvious and it is powerful.
Thank you for interest in feedback.

No, Thank you for giving it :) Its nice to hear how people use EMS. And i definitely will look into the shopping list. The gunslinger implants might be because of name changes since dominion. I will get to it as fast as i can. |

I installed your program and it seems like a useful tool but I'am having a problem. I have saved market logs for many items from 2 regions. One is from high sec and the other a 0.0 region. The 0.0 region will not show up. I set the Min. System security to 0.0 so I know it's not that. I also see the region name in the drop down menu so the data is there. I think it has something to do with the station names. Please advise.

Actually you should set Min. Sys. security to -1.0, as the true security status of 0.0 systems range from 0.0 to -1.0 :) And the 0.0 stations are downloaded automatically when the API is operational, so that shouldn't be a problem. |

Not anytime soon... although i might consider it at some point. But then i would rely on a third party api like eve-metrics.
About the cache files, i understand that you don't have to relay ont third party api, but instead why don't you modify your parser to not take in to account the name format of the exported files? The libevecache has a dumper, that will convert the cache data in to market export data. I tried to make a batch to export all of my cache files to the format of the exported files to use them with your application, but then i discovered that you parse the files based on their names. The batch files is unable to define a name for the files based on what is inside the files, and so the converted files can't be parsed by your application. I am not so good at C#, .NEt and other Microsoft BS to modify the code, but it will be good if you can modify the application to read exported files with types with names that are not in the standard exported format. In the mean while maybe i can work it to modify the dumper to dump the files with names in the standard exported format (if i can figure the format).
