Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 08:34:14 Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 08:32:49 Day 1 Recently while belt hunting I ran through a macro system, you know the type. Millions of haulers going everywhere that drop loot worth absolutely nothing. I was about to move on when I noticed a few Ravens on the scanner. Looked like a fun thing to hit, so I fired up my other account and my probing alt...
My other account pilots, among other things, a Pilgrim. I hadn't used it since the nos nerf, but it had a cloak and could take a few punches so its what I would be using. I fit its mids with a cap booster, three 2 point scrams, and a web...should hold any Raven in place!
I put Janus in a Celestis, fitted the mids with a T2 AB, Best Caldari ECM, and 3 named damps.
It took a while to get all the characters together, but when everyone and their mods were assembled I got to withing 4AU of one of the Ravens and dropped a probe...tick tock, 5min or so later I get the Warp In Point (Hereafter WIP). I start the warp and don't manage to cancel the warp in time on the Celestis frantically I tried to close the client in an attempt to cancel the warp...that works but unfortunatly I also close the Pilgrim, resulting in him decloaking and emergency warping off right in front of a shocked missioning Raven, a supporting Arbitrator, and a looting/salvaging Kestrel.
I log back in and wait, they have abandoned the deadspace. After a bit a shuttle warps in, hangs out for a bit, then leaves...and here comes the Raven back! I slowboat into range, decloak, hit him with 6 points and warp my Celestis in just as I'm decloaking...the result.
3 Arby Siege, 2 T2 shield hardeners, and a T2 BCU survived, cha-ching!
Well, the element of suprise, my Pilgrim pilots hi-sec status and the stupidity of the farmers had won the day, but that's not the end.
The farmers proceeded to make a big ruckus linking my name in local and assembling a gang outside one of the stations and just...waiting. I didn't get any more of em that night, but I certainly kept em from running their missions for the rest of the evening.

Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 08:37:43 Day 2 Spent most of this day probing one of the farmers on a system 1 jump from their home system.
It was pretty hairy as the system he was in all the objects were in a line and often the missions would be off the plane more than 4AU with no chance to get to a good spot. I noticed that they were only running one mission over and over (Gone Berzerk, lvl4) from memory this didn't seem to be a deadspace mission but scanning with normal probes when it was further than 4AU proved useless. Finally I got some lucky hits and dropped my probe.
I wasn't getting much luck until wih the scanning though, usually it would take me 2 ~5min cycles to get a hit and by then they'd have finished the mission. Finally I got a warp in close to the end of one mission and in a rush I warped in at 0km.
Unfortunatly massive mission lag hit me when I warped in and began loading the grid, when the smoke cleared I had enough time to lock, but not for my primed mods to activate before the guy was able to warp away. :-( The mission runner cancelled the mission and started a new one. A dropped probe and a few scans later I warped in at 10km and noticed he was aligned this time to the station. I slowboated over but was unsuccessful in my bump attempt and he got away.
He then proceeded to start crying at me in local...we'll call him Steve as that specific farmer figures prominently in the rest of my story. Keep in mind that there are about 5-6 of them that run about in Ravens, Steve is the only one to speak aside from linking my name in local as a warning to the others. He's also the only one to fight back! I like Steve, he's got balls.
Steve > Janus ... Steve > Janus -_-!!!! Steve > Janus hevrece v - federal go go go Steve > Janus hevrece v - federal go go go To fights Steve > Comes and my duel Me > Oh you want the sentry guns shooting me too eh? D***. Steve > Me The b****** comes Me > I can see you ********. You're 117km away from me. :-D Steve > Why do you always harass me Me > Because I want your modules Me > I made 30mil off your friend yesterday Me > And I made 40mil off a Megathron in XXXX today Me > Pay me 30mil and I'll leave Steve > Hateful Me > How do you always get the same mission? Steve > I cannot forgive you Me > Well I didn't ask you to forgive me, :-D Steve > How but do you harass me to solve Me > I want ISK, I get ISK by killing you Steve > Arrives my here to come me to give you very many torpedo Me > Go to a planet if you wanna get ganked Me > Or just run another mission and don't run away when I uncloak Me > Ooh, don't want to wander away from the sentry guns you station-hugger? Steve > How can I believe your such person speech you are the person whichdoes not have the credit Me > Have I ever lied to you before? Me > If I didn't honor ransoms I wouldn't be in business very long...people would stop paying. Steve > You play the role is not a role Me > I'm a pirate Steve > One day you return to you do pay the price together
Steve docked up so I went back to their home system and did some more probing, I managed to probe down another, but he was 70km away from the Warp In Point (WIP) and his salvager was sitting at the warp in...seeing as I need to keep my sec high for merc work on my Pilgrim pilot I simply scrammed him hoping they would send him help. As the Raven warped out and nobody came I let him go after about 30mins.
Didn't get any farmer kills this day, but I did manage to kill a 04 player ratting in a Megathron with comedy fitting in a belt in the system. He didn't pay his ransom, but his comedy fitting was decently expensive enough that I probly made more that way. The carebears will never learn, we offer ransom for your benefit, not ours.

Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 08:43:18 Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 08:42:50 Day 3 The mission spawns really game me a hard time today, one of them was, I kid you not, 20.5AU strait above the highest warpable object in the system. :-( Luckily I am amassing off-grid bookmarks from my exploits so I doubt any of these will even be a problem in a month or so, if they're still in business then.
I often wonder why these farmers are out in losec, the bounties on the rats are exactly the same. Perhaps the loyalty points are significantly more, I'm sure the loot is better, but mission loot sucks anyhow to begin with so it doesn't really get that good.
Sometime in the middle of my probing I chased Steve to a gate a little bit earlier than I had planned. Janus is an outlaw, and Steve started shooting at him. Damps on Steve, Pilgrim sitting at 0km and I started daring him to attack the Pilgrim, even dropped a cap charge.
Steve started "LOL"ing in local at my Celestis damage output. I was bored so I continued for as long as I dared, eventually another of the ravens joined him on the gate firing at me so I split my damps and jammer between the two and hung out some more...then 2-3 outlaws in cruisers and BCs jumped through the gate and I warped off and docked with Janus, and jumped through and cloaked with my Pilgrim pilot.
A while later I got a WIP on one of the other Ravens, warp in at 10km. He's not aligned so I decloaked at 5km and tackled, got Janus in doing his damp thing 20-30secs later. This one managed to get a lock on my Pilgrim and got me to 50% armor by the time he popped, good thing he was tanking rats too. Main problem with the Pilgrim post-nerf is that it can't tank and nos at the same time, it can do either one or the other. Seems CCP has taken the problems of every other Amarr ship, and given it to the Pilgrim too with the patch. Pilgrim is still an awesome ship but it could use enough passive recharge to run either 2 Neuts, or 1 Medum rep and use a cap booster for everything else.
There were 2 BCU IIs, a T2 Thermal shield hard, and a named Stab in the can along with a good named DC worth about 5mil and a crap-ton of Juggernaut Torps. I'd say the haul was between 20-30mil, unfortunatly rats got the final blow and my petition to get the km was denied. I can't wait for CCPs new killmail system.
As soon as I killed the Raven I convoed Steve:
Me > Hey, I just killed one of your friends mate Me > You should have taken the ransom yesterday Steve > For what? Me > Because now if you want me to leave you guys alone Me > You'll need to pay me 100mil Steve > Good ridiculous ah Steve > I (Censored System Name) Me > If you decide to pay the 100mil make sure to send me an EVE-Mail about it Me > Until then I look forward to killing more of your ravens, on which you lose at least 50mil a pop Steve > I will look forward to your visit. Me > Hehe, its no visit, I'm here to stay. I sill probe down the ravens of you and your buddies every day until you pay me to leave Steve > Awaiting your visit Me > Sometimes I'm not sure if your english is good or bad Steve > I am sorry my English is not very good Me > Actually usually it is pretty good Me > What is your native language? Steve > South Korea Steve > Your international yes? Me > Yes, I live in Gainesville, Florida, United States Me > I have some friends that speak Korean, I'll need to get one to come help translate sometime Steve > You do not want to defeat my crow? Me > Crows go too fast Me > But sure, I'll send Janus Duo over Steve > lol I will not let you back disappointed to attack me! Me > You're still in your Raven Steve > Janus Duo I saw your friends Me > Thats me Steve > He is not an up and attack me? Me > You're hiding Steve > I was not your mistakes Me > Then where are you? Me > There is no crow in Hevrice Steve > I XXXX V- FEDERAL Me > Undock then Steve > LOL

Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 08:44:08 So he proceeds to undock in a Raven and start shooting me from the undock point again, naturally I damp him and put the drones and rails on him...I also bring my Pilgrim pilot from next-door and uncloak next to him and drop a can with some of the named siege that the Raven I killed earlier had, 3 of em together were worth only 1mil so I figured what the heck, he'll like em and might actually take em...and he did! Tackle, Nos, Drones.
He didn't like that, and so he deagressed and docked at 10% shield. Phooey. I kept doing this until an outlaw Ruppie and Harb came along and helped the Raven pound on me, I deagressed and docked at 10% armor. :-D

Edited by: Janus Duo on 19/09/2007 13:28:36 Good news guys! This morning after hitting Jita right before downtime and getting a Pilgrim out I went back to probing in the hour I have before work, and...I got Steve. Unfortunately the rats got the km. Blast!
He dropped 2 BCU IIs, 4x Arby siege, a T2 Thermal and T2 Kinetic shield hardener. I'm back in the black again on this little operation it seems.

I went to a great deal of trouble to edit out the system. If you're determined to find out and have a locator agent handy you can probly figure it out but I'd rather not have the place swarmed by "bigger fish" so to speak haha. Lets just say this is in the Essence/Verge Vendor area.

Alright, I'll give it to ya, but I'd rather not post on the public forum so I sent it to your EVE-Mail.
Oh, and I've just found out that you can make a crapload ganking their salvagers even if you don't geth their ravens. Works best as they're salvaging the last wreck. Free salvage+tractor beams+the pick of all the best mods dropped from the mission=ISKies!

Sweet story bro. I enjoyed that very much.
You should stop by and post a story over on Eve Pirate sometime.
I don't think your audience would be as big, but you can post without needing to leave out anything.
Again, great story. Very entertaining!

And yeah, guess I do have patience. Scan probing is really fun, as much as I complain about unprobable spots every now and then, once you've got a nice bookmark collection its a lot like a puzzle minigame inside EVE, and if you win you get T2 and best named LOOTZ! Good stuff.
Killed 2 more Ravens today, it's getting easier to probe em now, and they're getting dumber. It's less rewarding when they run missions reguardless of the fact that they know you're hunting em simply because they have a quota of ISK to fill and they just hope you don't get a WIP on em.
2 times now I've been decloaked on warp in and they've got away, then come back 1/2 an hour later to the same mission only to get killed. Why?
Least I know I'm helping CCP crush some ISK sellers.

Bring friends, my new celestis setup (now with ECM drones and ECM damage mods on the few caldari ECMs) pretty much permajams ravens considering your lock time once you're actually unjammed.
I pretty much only attack Ravens as that's what my setups are specced to kill. I guess bring passive shield hardeners and extenders.
