What is the trick for making these bookmarks? I have not yet successfuly created one. I exit station, warp to gate, go past 15km make bm. I then warp back to station and try it out. Always puts me out about 6 or 7 km from bm. I try adjustng warp in from 15 to 20, same thing. Also, ive been unable to trade bookmarks since the last patch's, what is the recommended method for giving your bm's to other players? thanks for your time.

try clearing out your cache and remaking the bookmarks. Thats the only thing i can think off, if u still end up comming out of warp 6-7km from your bookmarks then i would bug report it

just to make a stupid test, are you bookmarking where you are, or the gate?
Tip, drop a crate/box where u are.. and bookmark that one.

Hi, I have always been able to make very good BM in and around gates, stations etc...even after multiple patches that seem to srewup my old ones. What is the trick u may ask? Simple. 1. Warp to the designated target. 2. Draw a mental straight line of the direction u are facing and a point 15 km past the gate. This might seem easy at first but takes some good estimations of where u landed comming out of warp(angle of ur ship...etc..). 3.Accelerate to that position(using MWD does help). 4. Drop item in space or use the people and places page to create BM. Both seem to work just fine. 5.Enjoy.
PS. Every time I get a BM that is off it has to do with how acurate I was in placing my ship 15KM past the object in a straight line with my exit point from warp..
Hope this can help..:)

Buy warp disruptors. Well .. when they're on sale, anyway.

I'm pretty sure CCP didn't intend the game to be played like this, with insta-jump bookmarks. Therefore, such tactic can be considered exploit of game mechanics.
I don't think people should stop using it. But I think CCP should make insta-jump bookmarks impossible to use. It should be impossible to warp in closer than 15 km from the gate.

Edited by: Luc Boye on 15/02/2004 23:00:27 Lol which reminds me, once I shuttled my alt to FD-MLJ and jumped to a bookmark, and saw stavros on the gate. Then I went back and did it 2-3 times again. On the last run I figured I'd wait for a couple of seconds to see if he'd target me, so I was hugging a gate for like 3-4 seconds and then Stav opened up on me, so I egged thru the gate.
I found it funny as hell (was bored) to get shot off in like 0.2 seconds. Then I destroyed my pod and clone-jumped back to buy another shuttle :P --

I do not like the insta jump bms either, but i use them too.
With the new warp inhibitors, people can speed travel through space till they hit a blocade and are forced into pvp, which keeps every1 happy.
As ive said before, dont nerf...add, and this is exactley what they have done with the bm issue.

Nah! We are prepared for warp disruptors. Insta BMs isn't fault of any side.
Imagine I can reach 100km in 10sec so even bigest warp disruptors will not stop me. BAH!
But ppl who want force PvP are plain stupid! They dosn't want PvP they want pwned or gang people. I hate this sort of people. I enjoy PvP but with fair chance on both sides. Ganging people like in FD-MLJ is plain bull**** that's need to go out of EVE not insta bookmarks!
Go home gangers!

Well I love a good bookmark myself. Infact at this same moment I am enjoying a beer while I dock in Gehi after bookmarking the compleet CFS terrirtory! Took me while ( 200+ bookie's) but once you know how the gate's work and know when to make one its pretty simple. So anybody wanting to stop me or my corp should get a worp inhibitor . Goodluck making them.

Aaaaaarrrrggh, no.
They were going to implement that, but there were howls of outrage. Why should people not be allowed to cut down their travel times by warping to within jump range?
What they DID want to stop, is people avoiding gate-campers by warping to within jump range. That's what the warp disruptors are (or will be) for. Throw those babies out, and insta-jump bookmarks won't work at that gate, but we can still use them at un-camped gates for the sake of speed.

Insta jump bookmarks and insta dock bookmarks to me are a way of rewarding the people who know how to make them and take the time to make them. Also an insta jump/dock bookmark to me is like when you're in your hometown and you know the shortcuts. It allows the people that spend the majority of their time in one area to have an advantage over visitors.

Yup, can't say how much I hate instagimps. Well almost as much as I loathe leet speaking. I swear I'll have an embolism one day due to high blood pressure caused by some 3 year old saying pwned or ownage. Anyway i'd like to see CCP instate the minimum distance to gate on warp in to 15km's. I actually prefer to lose ships to campers rather than use this method of navigation which is very much against the spirit of the game.
Ok, so what the hell is this Golden Ratio? |

GM's and TomB have stated this is NOT an exploit but sensible planning.
As there is shortly(tm) going to be a way for pirates to block instajumps on gates they are camping it's not even going to be a problem that way either.

Actually, I have to say, that I agree in principle to the point that "JackDonkey" makes, that of a local or "home" advantage. Think about what happens when you encounter a traffic jam IRL in your local area, you no doubt have a multitude of options to choose from that you get from the benefit of experience.
As a trader who now mainly mines for a living, trust me, I have jumped a MILLION jumps, ;), and it has occured to me that in RP terms, some of the routes that I have plied on countless occasions would for all intents of purpose be considered as a "Home Run" of sorts, and that if I really wanted to, I could spend an hour or so making BM's in these systems to ensure that I ALWAYS had safe passage through them, regardless of the politics or events that might occur.
