We have just had an applicant to join PIE.
Only been playing game for a week and is on the point of quitting after his initial experience.
Anyway this poor guy joined a corp who after he had earned himself enough to buy himself his first decent ship asked him to take part in an 'initiation' ceremony.
His corp 'mates' then proceeded to kill his new ship and pod him.
I am not really a carebear but this does seem to be a particularly cruel thing to do to a new player. EVE is a harsh world and you can understand if this guy gets podded by some pirates - but his own corp?
I was just wondering if other Corps have 'initiation' ceremonies for new recruits and if so what do they consist of?
We don't have them in PIE but we do encourage our new pilots to join a military op against Minmatar terrorists as soon as possible after joining

That is quite frankly appalling and it strikes me that is classical playground bully behaviour.
Please post the name of the corp that did this, and perhaps some alliances can add them to their KOS lists _________________________________

My first corp had initiation rite, they gave me navitas and some ISK :P
That was pretty cruel, they should be podded over and over again. --

I blew up volds ship, but i missed the pod, I suppose you could have called that an initiation ceremony. I ****ed myself laughing for ages thats kinda expected if your good corp mates, doing it to a nub in your corp is a bit cruel. But if he was an amarr spack head like you then fair enough

That is sad from all points of view. True sandbox style bullying. Wow. What a looser corp.
One more reason to do what we do in our newbie corp - (try to) hang on to our newbies for at least a couple of weeks. After that they can stand on their own knowledge-wise. And they have enoug info to go find the corp they want to join, instead of just going with the first cool ass lol you n00bs need a corp- CEO coming to newbie corp bragging how kewl and rich he is.
It's very tough for a two hour old, who is not familiar with anything in game really, to resist some cheap gifts that the CEO promises. Of course, this one discussed here is only an appalling and extreme example. But there are plenty of those that are looking for mining slaves to join their dead corp-channel. What is even worse, there are no guarantees that the new player will get any help at all, as far as advice is concerned. And one more acco is cancelled, and likely never to return, which is just bad for every one here.
We have good corp recruiters as well, and this is not directed at you at all. You know who you are.

As Tenacha has already mentioned it our 'initiation' ceremony is putting the new member in a frigate and let him fly around your ship till your large gun can finally hit him. The longer you last the longer you will stay in that frigate being the suicidal scrambler in fleet battles.

This Probly a act from a loser corp with no actually future in eve itself. If a eve player must get he's jollies off by killing newbs maybe he's in the wrong game. I incourage any corp who play's these games to come to venal and see how real player killing is done pussies.

Wow what a good way to make players hate the game. Can I join your corp whoever you are? You can just try to initiate me . Nuff said.
I hope they at least bought him a new ship and replaced all the mods/drones. If not, then they are total losers to the most extreme.

The Corp was
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap...
They are not completely bad tho - after kicking the noobie out of the corp one of them did refund the losses as felt bad...

The corp is horrible and appalling. However, even some pirates feel bad about horrible things like this...

One time... in band camp :P
Seriously, one time, when I was a newbie, someone was talking on local about who in the newbs can kill him. Of course I took the bait, and concord owned me.
God I was ****ed. I whined so much that the guy gave me 100k isk for my rookie ship loss. Boy I was happy hehe |

I think Hardin said they did above. Even so, I still think we should all add them to KOS. Either that or we pass a hat around and give the n00b a donation, even 100k from everyone in this thread would make him feel super rich .
Hardin, what was the n00bs name? (assuming he is still in the game)

Dirty deeds done dirt cheap is allready on several anti-pirate corps KOS/POS lists for acts of piracy in both empire and non-empire space. They are your typical pirate corp who attacks haulers just out of range of turrets and then rush in with an unganged hauler to collect loot. As soon as somone stands up to them they scatter like sheep to a lion and hide. "I can only take so much before I'll blow up my own ship. Hey isn't that what insurance is for?"
