Heard a lot of stories, read a lot of posts about it, how great it was etc. But when I finally faced in EFT, saw the slot layout and numbers that come from it, I was massively disappointed to say the least!!
I bumped my Command skill to lvl 4 so its not the issue here.
Gank: 6 heavy pulse t2 with one HS is 550 dps (with drones), add a second HS and you got 635 dps. Not bad but... you can achieve such numbers on a decent Harbinger setup, so its hardly comparable to a Battleship.
Tank: 2 reppers gave me 551 dps tanked with 80+ resists across the board (faction EANMs) this is quite impressive since most BS don't even tank 400dps (with few exceptions ofc). But now since I used two reppers, one of med slots can't be occupied by web, but rather cap booster. Using one repper isn't an option because 275dps tanked on a ship that easily costs 200m is just laughable but you do have space for a web that way.
Now here is the big question, lets say I have a 550dps dealing - 551dps tanking ship thats capable of supporting itself. But it lacks a web so going solo with it is quite helpless, on gates everything will run away and jump, on belts it will be better but if they have MWD (and god forbid a web) they will run. So basicly no solo....
Gang?? Damnation is far better at this game anyway and if you look away from Command Ships there are a lot of BS that do it better too. You never know if you won't be the guy that has to stop your target from burning his MWD towards the gate, don't have a web? Ohh you're screwed.
So what exactly is the point of flying one, I'm sure there are a lot of Abso lovers out there that will want to prove me wrong, fire away.
theres nothing wrong with flying an absolution solo . you just cant web anything. oh and i use an AB not an mwd - ive solo'ed in it many a times and its awesome.
yes sometimes u meet a big gang but u have a massive tank on so you either burn it back to the gate or if you are webbed fight off the ceptors. then fit scorch nos/neut the ceptor start shooting the ceptor and put your drones on it...watch the ceptor crumble as it heads straight away from your ship so your guns are gonna tear it apart. if you are jammed and webbed then your probably dead anyway - lets face it no ship lasts forever.
i also fly my absolution in full Tank mode and my resists are 85/87/89/89 - dual reppers repping for 415 per cycle each. this is with t2 mods and compensation skills at lvl 4
