I obviously need to raise my standings to an R&D corp in order to get a high quality lvl4 R&D agent.
But once the agent is available, does raising standings to his R&D corp even higher have any effect on the amount of RP i get?

The amount of RP you get by an agent is determined by this formula:
ResearchFieldModifier*(1+(EffectiveAgentQuality/100))*(YourResearchLevel + AgentResearchLevel)^2
Eg with lvl 4 in Ship design and an agent quality of 30 you'd get:
3*(1+30/100)*(4+4^)^2 = 249.6 RP/day
So the answer is yes: The higher you get your agent standing, the more rp you'll get.
I have a sneaky suspicion however, that the amount of RP you get is determined at the time of starting the research and subsequently upgrading standing does not improve RP gain - I'm not sure about this one though.

Standing with the corp in no way affects RP gain. The reason for this is that you have 0 standing with the RD agents you use. Training connections to lvl 3, which would usually increase his standings considerably, results in virtually no gain in the effective quality of the agent.
The only thing that matters in RD agents is their lvl and effective quality. Negotiations skill and higher levels of the engineering skill are all you can do to get more RPs. The connections skill helps only very slightly.
