It seems to me that with use of the "buy/sell order" export and the API key to track actual stock and transactions, software could be created that would allow you to show exactly what you have bought, how much you have bought it for and how much you have sold it for in the past.
Why am I telling you this? Well, because every time I think "Hey, I bet you could do this" I have a look, and someone has indeed created whatever I'm thinking of, however, I haven't found anything that does this. Does anyone know of anything like this? The closest thing I have found is evemeep, which dosen't quite do what I'm thinking of.
Just to be clear what I'm saying, you would have a list of items, listing exactly what you paid for it, so you could refer to it to make sure you don't accidentally sell it for less than you paid. I can see this being a problem when you have 10s or even 100s of buy and sell orders that you have to keep rebidding to keep up with the market.
Is there anything out there to do this? If not, how do you guys track your stock?

I use an Excel spreadsheet. It took about 2hrs to program all of the formulas I wanted, and now it does everything I consider important.

It would be nice if the API could include assets but I think they'd have to put a limit on how often it refreshed to reduce load. Maybe it would only refresh during dt and only if you have paid Isk for the dump to be prepared. There could also be a skill controlling the range that it covers like remote sell orders. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Ah, I thought the full api included assets, because evemeep can display them. Still, you could do it with just buy sell orders and market transactions as long as you were religious with exporting them.

Evemeep doesn't actually track assets, it only tracks assets that you have bought, but any items that you received via missions/donations do not show automatically. You need to manually add them with their value. Last i read the Asset API has not been introduced. Eve Meep also has a buy/sell order tab but doesn't seem to work either when you download transactions. It may work if you manually export the sell/buy orders and import it into it though, never tried as i stopped using evemeep and went to using another product but even it doesn't exactly do what i want either but future additions is promising according to the author.
