Weird, i Downloaded with DL manager Eve Client -> EVE_Setup_37459.exe file from your page but the size downloaded 100% was just 348Mb. Windows reject the install of game. >.<

I assume you mean the hardware acceleration problem.
I thought it was common knowledge that Vista didn't support hardware DirectSound and it is emulated in software, hence no acceleration with games that only use DirectSound.
I guess the fix will depend on how much work is involved rewriting the code to use the OpenAL API.
Apologies if I have assumed wrong.

What they're probably referring to is Creative ALchemy - basically a dll hack that creative have come up with to emulate DirectSound into openAL, thus allowing it to be accelerated. Unfortunately, a recent security addition to the eve client means that the client is now detecting the altered/added dll's used by ALchemy, and refusing to start with them present as it assumes you're trying to hack the client (which technically you are, but for a good reason). ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Long wait for 'bulk data'... whatever it'll get fixed eventually.
Logged on finally... oh wait settings gone again... it'll get fixed soon(tm).
EVE-Launcher didn't shift the window... WTF the only available window resolution is 1680x1050?! Not pleasant when I run one client at 1680x1050 and another at 1280x1024 with EVE-Launcher.
More to the point, why is that whenever I clear one client's cache, the other loses it's data too and forgets which directory it's pointed at. If you're going to go along with Micro$oft's paranoid "User data goes where we say, OBEY!" line then at least make sure multiple installs can avoid cross-talk. ----------

The EVE\bin folder contains the wrap_oal.dll, which is used for OpenAL on DirectSound hardware. And EVE does load the .dll - but why Creative users can't enable the Hardware Acceleration or choose at least a 'Generic Hardware' device remains unknown.

Some of these programs allow the user to add exclusions, that is one work around that will allow you to play EVE until the software companies update their virus definitions. We do not recommend disabling AV software in order to play EVE.

Well I have some nice news concerning my 'unable to run Eve - get nothing' from earlier. i rebooted my comp to find it wouldnt boot. I ran automated recovery, didnt help. Ran recovery and found that my controller registry had been deleted. Therefore I had to reinstall windows. This is the second time Eve has done this. When I uninstalled my second Eve folder for Sisi my computer wouldnt reboot. Must have been the same thing. From now on i must learn to back-up my registry before I even think about patching or uninstalling this game. Maybe thats the plan by ccp, you cant leave cos your comp will be f*cked if you do.. nice

Edited by: Sanche Tehkeli on 25/09/2007 21:59:54 Hi,
I just logged on and made a clone jump to a clone with better attribute implants. When I display the context menu over a skill in the char sheet the training time in "Train to level x (<duration>)" is not correct, it shows the raw time as without any implant. The time is correct when I start training the skill however.
I was not in an active ship nor capsule. Boarding an ship solved the trick.

Every patch day the same problem, www.eve-online.com is not available from here, autopatching does not work. TQ and the test servers are fine, myeve and search as well. Unfortunately, patches are located under www.eve-online.com.
Same problem from my PC at work, so its not a local problem.
How about supplying another location for the patch?

I hope no one here was expecting a sensible reply to anyones problems here were they? Keiron and Wrangler are only concerned about making as$wipe comments about doughnuts instead of trying to respond to the real concerns of post patch grief. FYI i bought my pc to play eve, thats all i have never dowloaded a movie(wouldnt know how) i have never made a DVD(wouldnt know how) i have never made a CD(wouldnt know how) only things that have been downloaded are eve patches and TS(and a friend did the TS for me) so how the F*ck am i supposed to fix all this crap with "available for seperate download"
How about actually tellin us thick bastards just how to do these things instead of givin us 2 line answers.
After 4 fresh instals yesterday i turned my av off and got in fine So today i see your post and activate my Av again my client go's **** up again, and i try your amazing download fix, nothin has happened
So now i have to look forward to another fresh install, settin all my settings and overview on 3 accounts again and turnin my AV off just because you assume i know what im doin and are to lazy to write more than 2 line sh*tty answers

We have also heard back from Frisk (fix released today), Iolo (fix due today) and Virginmedia (fix pending).
Some workarounds are discussed in the above thread for those still having problems.

Nope none of that - Vista does hardware audio differently. Anyhow 3 patch's ago and indeed prior to that I could select hardware under Vista no problem at all.
the audio subsystem change - still worked and actualy sorted the surround out.
Patch later with `added` client checks totaly broke it due to persmisions afaik. Basicly it loads the extra DLL needed then internaly refuses to allow it to be used. They broke it :((
Now I use standard audio off the motherboard - new mobo and nice and good HD audio standard chip that works fine. Heck it has been working.
SO my gripe and it is a gripe when it drags on being ignored by CCP like some lamentable lalala candle is:
Hardware audio worked in Vista.
Patch broke it.
SUbsquent patch;'s have ignored it and all you doen is add Linux and seem to be pandering to those people now instead of supporting/fixing what you broke. Focus, dont flirt around issues please CCP. Now I could get the goonclones making a lot of posts just to get your attention but why should I.
This has been bugged and for all intence purpose ignored.
So, whats a happening as afaik and several others know its a small change to add a dll to the approved list for the cluet. I cant fix it as would be breaking the client EULA so you have to do it.
Basicly its for all intence purpose a simple fix to something you broke and ignored for 3 odd patch's now.
CCP TALK TO ME - What is the issue/when will it get fixed. This is about as much of a joke as warfare links issues when they came out without the skills.
PS Shoke here but more people run EVE under Vista than they do Linux - float that under marketings nose and tell me you dont have a problem.
/rant off feels better for that - but hey - nothing in - **** out :).

Help channel guys say its a bug, GMs cannot verify:
Aggroing a guy, I have kill rights on, causes gate guns in hisec to wtfpwn me.
A bit more elaboration might be required: 1. I get killed in losec and have kill rights on 6 ppl from that event 2. I get another ship in hisec and fit it, warp to a stargate where one of these guys is afk... still in hisec 3. I let loose my arties of doom and get a brief message about me being a criminal and my ship pops. (bout 20 min or so after the initial incident - no aggro timer) 4. I quadruple checked if I really have kill rights on him - I do 5. I get robbed of a cool killmail (thrasher vs myrmi), the guy laughs at me, I am confused, the whole thing makes me LOL, locals grab my stuff and I am embarrased coz I was killed by an afk guy (using gate guns) 6. I file a petition and a GM says they cannot verify my loss etc. 7. I ask in help chat and they say it could be a bug - so I post here :)
I dont care about the loss of the ship, I just want to know if kill rights are broken so I know if I can hunt those 6 guys in hisec. They are fun \m/

Since the patch I have been having problems with my auto pilot (which I only use to tell me the next system to manually jump to). I don't seem to be able to use auto-pilot unless I am on one jump away. It appears that my onboard computer can't identify the path to a system.
This also appears to be a problem whenever trying to identify how many jumps to anything it comes up with something like 247154632 jumps.
