I'm with eclipse. Stuck at Checking status... Then Unknown
Sigh. Eclipse have been a very good ISP for about 2 years but I seem to have problems with EVE. Is it really an eclipse problem or is it just coincidence. Everything else is working fine. Email, web, VPN to office, etc. When I have problems with EVE, everything else is always OK. Yet I have seen lots of posts suggesting that eclipse users have issues.

Originally by: Jeretomi I'm in too....we'll have to see for how long. I filed a ticket with Eclipse too, urging them to talk to CCP to discover what the problem is. This is the second time in as many months Eclipse users have had problems.
Me too, just filed a ticket.

I appear to able to hit something at CCP, then nothing. I assume that between 87.248.208.150 and the target 87.237.38.200 is under CCP control? CCP Can you comment?

I can finally login. Been in and out to set up some long training tmes on my chars until I can be sure problems have been resolved.
Login times, aquiring bulk data time all seem normal. Not had a single update or response to my ticket with Eclipse.
It just started working again ?

I was OK last night. I was OK this morning (about 07:30 UK time).
Log-on times, aquiring bulk data times were good.
However it just started working, like someone flipped a switch, as someone else said.
I wonder what it will be like after DT today when I get back home?
I have an open ticket with Eclipse - not a single response. No Email update, the ticket details have not been touched. I logged the ticket at 17:57 on 29/09/2007.
This is disappointing.

I've been with Eclipse for about 4 years now. Their service has been excellent...
Up until about 2 months ago. Then I started getting problems with EVE which I had never seen before. Been playing EVE for about 18 months.
I have just had a second phone line installed and I was about to sign up for another connection with Eclipse. Not now. No way.
I've ordered my broadband through zen. I hear good things about them. So here's hoping...
If zen works out I will then drop Eclipse.

I finally got a reply to my ticket. About 1.5 hours ago.
Eclipse Network Engineers are still investigating this issue, and we hope to be able to provide you with an update shortly
I really, really need a cold beer Fortunately there's plenty in the fridge.

Mine lasted about 20 mins, with 2 clients, then I got kicked off.
Just got back in, sticking with single client for the moment.
I had a really bad day at the office. A cold beer didn't help, but I'm still working on this. I don't like to give up too easily. So I'll have aonther beer ... It might work eventually.
Bu55er! Just got kicked out again. While I was writing this... Damn.

Eclipse closed my ticket. Saying "we're working on it"
I opened another one and sent them a sh!t-o-gram.
I was able to logon earlier but I'm stuffed again. Stuck at Checking Status...
Can't wait for my 2nd ASDL connection with zen to be enabled on Friday.

I was OK this morning. Now I'm stuck at 'Acquiring Bulk Data'
It sits there and sulks for several minutes then drops out and goes back to the login sceen.
I assume that this is the same basic problem?

Nope. Dead in the water again...
Eclipse are finished as far as I'm concerned.
All I can get from them is "We're working on it".
Just not good enough. This has been going on for 5 days. It started (for me at least) on Friday of last week.
It's a real shame, they used to be really good.

I'm lucky. I've got a second phone line. So I have arranged to get a second ISP on the other line. I've opted for zen. Should be enabled a week today. 5 working days.
Just getting the MAC isn't really good enough for me. I have to change Email addresses and give people time to register the change, etc. It's a real hassle.
So I'll run the 2 ISPs in parallel for for a couple of months. I'll move my Email to something which is ISP neutral (google?, yahoo?) I can then just drop Eclipse.
zen appear to have a good reputation. (So did Eclipse ) zen have a monthly contract plan. I'm always wary of 12 or 18 month contracts. So we'll how it goes.

Five days? That's a lot of chances.
The thing that annoys me is the quality of service. No explaination. They closed the call without asking if the problem was resolved. All I can get from them is "We're working on it" No ETA, not even a guess. It's just not good enough. That's the real problem.
I know the world is not perfect I don't expect it to be. I do expect decent customer service. Eclipse have failed to provide decent customer service. It's not just me who thinks this.

Hold on. I have not continually harrassed them. Two polite enquires over 4 days is hardly harassment.
I have worked on a hep desk. I know what it's like to be harassed by irate customers. My 2 polite enquires are not even close.
As for being a noob. Actually I have over 25 years experience in the IT industry. Inculding my 3 year stint doing end user (help desk) software support. I know all about the stress involved in customer support. I also know how to do it properly and this ain't how you do it.
You're right about one thing though - I am going to go to bed.

I wasn't going to dignify this post with a reply but I couldn't resist this. I started having serious problems on Friday the 28th Sept. I didn't log the ticket until 17:00 on Saturday the 29th Sept. So I gave them a days grace before I logged a ticket.
A day is a bit more than 3 seconds. Just thought I'd point that out.
Now, what did I do with my teddy...

I got the same message and the ticket has been closed. I would like to know exactly what the issue was but I guess I can't have everything. Eclipse seem confident that they have resolved the issue.
I have been able to login in repeatedly this evening without any problems.
