I like to fly what everyone else really isnt flying so much.... scorps are a dime a dozen... so I was wondering if an Armageddon would be first good tier one?... I dont paticularly like the look of the green turd dominix.

Armageddon has 8 low slots, you can put a lot of cap power relays there, as well as heat sinks.
It has 7 turrets and 1 extra hardpoint (no missiles, sorry).
It however has only 3 medium slots, a big weakness but the low slots can be used in someways to make it less EW jammable.
It has a big drone bay, very nice for Ogres and Harvesters.
I own one, as well as a scorpion and others. The Armageddon is faster, better miner, best damagedealer in game but weak against jamming.
The question really is, what purpose does the tier 1 battleship have for you?
The Dominix is very nice as well, huge dronebay, more medium slots, again no missiles. The dominix is the most versatile battleship in the game with it's balance of high, medium and low slots.

I'd recommend a Typhoon if you have good projectile, drone, and navigation skills.

Well some people say the Typhoon is best, but I don't like the idea of being restricted to only 4 turrets. Missiles, IMHO, aren't worth it. In the time it takes to load a launcher, fire a missile, travel to a target, and hopefully actually hit without being shot down, one can easily get off two or three shots with a tachyon, or other heavy turret. Missiles = trash.
Other than my Apocalypse, I've flown an Armageddon and a Dominix. The Armageddon is without a doubt scary as hell if it gets a lock on something. Its sheer damage potential is astronomical - but it's defenseless on its own, and with so many pirates out there, I'd not consider it a decent solo-ship anymore - rather its a fantastic gunship for when you're with a more well-rounded wingman, or involved in a fleet action.
The Dominix, as someone already mentioned, the most well-rounded battleship simply by virtue of its stats and fitting. 5 mid-slots means it can be a capable EW ship, or tank the hell out of itself. The ability to use 6 turrets means it can mine, or mount 5 425mm's for example, which provides a large ammount of firepower. The base of 5000 drones means you can have WAVES of fighters at your command.
In short, it depends on what you do. I still fly my Dominix almost exclusively, and only bring out the Apoc for those really intense battles where I need 100% firepower with little regard for anything else. If you're a pilot who normally flies alone, take the Dom - you'll be much safer. Centauri,

It really depends on what you wish to do with it. If you prefer to mine the Armageddon is a clear choice if you can not afford a Tier 2 Battleship. The Armageddon is also pretty good at hunting NPC due to it's many turrets and zero ammo usage. It can also do well in ganking/1v1 with the right setup and sufficient skills.
Personally I love my Typhoon. The 4/4 setup is nice since I love missiles, despite their current problems and 1400mm Howitzers pack a punch. It is also the lightest Battleship and has a fairly good agility. For the mining I do I use a Thorax, it can use 1 more meta miner and that is quite enough for my needs.
Dominix, flown them a few times. They can tank pretty good I am told, and the slot layout also suggests this. It is a good miner, better than a Thorax bur obviously worse then the Armageddon. It is ok as an NPC hunter but it's weak PG gives it problems mounting enough 425mm and extra stuff. The 425mm had their PG reduced to 2500 last time I looked on Chaos and that could give it a rebirth.
I'd not touch the Scorption with a 5" pole unless I absolutly wanted to be a EW'er. -------------------------

Personally I am a favourite of the Typhoon. Not many people fly it - so don't even think about getting this one
It's light, and I am quite fond of missiles, eventhough some people here say that they are crap. Having 3500 m^3 drone space doesn't hurt either.
For mining I use a Dom. Could get a Megathron, but seeing I don't mine that much the costs do not outweigh the profit of those additional turrets.

That look really grows on you, I had one for my alt many months ago (account now sold) and I was getting very fond of the dominix, so much in fact that it's next on my shopping list and I've allready submitted an order for one.

Typhoon is 2nd only to the Megathron for up-close-and-frightful attacks - those 4 launchers come in handy if you're 3km away

I suggest the Dominix... they are greatly underestimated. They can do VERY good damage if right fitted.
