Given the potential for Rorquals to boost gang mining to insanely high outputs if you have the skills, since rev 2 freighters are able to dock with POS corp hangar arrays and that jump-bridges are available for somewhat safer inter-system travel.
Why people only mine arkonor, bistor and crokite? there is now the option to mine almost everything else available and strip clean the belts for an overall better result in 0.0 than just focusing in the "good" ores.
Now i've heard countless times that "people don't mine veldspar in 0.0", but goddamit, if trit is in more demand out there....why not?, you save in logistics, you save in time, you save in fuels.
Sorry but i just don't get it. I would be mining entire belts if i was miner in 0.0 with a rorqual pilot in my gang, and getting a much faster payment return given that i delivered a broader supply.

And you'd be putting a 2billion isk ship, plus 4-8 other 120mill + 30 mill for fittings ships for mining veldspar? I think not...
In 0.0, a well run mining op takes a lot more then just the folks that mine. Say you have a pilot in a Rorqual, just sitting there and compressing ore. Then say 4 Hulks (since that's as many as the rorqual can carry around). You'd now need at least 1, probably 2 folks to haul. And since you're using a capital ship, and if what I am told, you can't activate the Industrial Mode modification inside of a POS, you now put it at risk, so you'd want at least 7-10 "pvp" fitted folks for protection. Along with that, you'd need at least 1 guy in a BS fitted to tank whatever rats were in the belt. So now, you have 15-20 people that are in the mining operation. That's how a 0.0 "mining operation" takes place. And if anything big comes along, you all log out...or get safe. Personally, I don't know how long it takes for a Rorqual to come out of it's industrial mode, but I'm sure there's some sort of set time.
So what are you 15-20 folks going to mine? That's worth risking 3.5-4 billion isk worth of ships and modifications? Something that yields 15 mill isk per hour per miner? Or something that, at this time, is worth about 40-50 mill isk per hour per miner?
Again, I'm not trying to bash the Rorqual... I like the ship, it's a convenient "trash compactor." But that is my response to the whole "Rorqual" deal and 0.0 with low end minerals...
Really all that needs to be said is in the highlights. Don't be lazy and do what you know you need too. Its a working mechanic. And you chose not to be in Empire. Empire dwellers dont have a compacter and have to deal with it. In fact they have to purchase what you get free. Balanced
