If you run into a capacitor problem you could substitue one of the tracking computers for a cap recharger II as you wont need the extra tracking ability at the ranges you are rigging your guns for.

Your first problem it you're looking at dps and not alpha.
When sniping alpha is all that counts. Thats why the megathron sucks out of fleet sniping.

Hm. Lack of alpha didn't prevent an Abaddon from tearing up my Itty III (carrying WAY too much, I should've split the load) in 5 seconds flat. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

The effect of alpha (in fleets) has been greatly reduced since the HP buff. It's no longer the golden rule of fleet fighting. Also, megas don't suck for fleet work. They're at least on par with the other fleet battleships. For solo work, no battleship will work any more. Too slow at locking frigates, most cruisers are too small, and BCs and above have enough HP to tank until they warp. Preferably, you want a tempest/huginn/sabre trio, but then you may as well fit for short range and bring a sleipnir or something.
If you should be criticising anything..

No MWDs. The MWD is an absolute essential for a sniping battleship. You MIGHT get away with it solo... but not for long.

Abaddon does a similar alpha to a tempest, aswell as higher DPS, while shooting from a longer range. Its trade-off is the high cap usage and insane fitting reqs of the guns.

I don't understand the concept of "alpha". I gather it means the damage that a ship can do in a short period of time after a target is locked.

alpha strike - in fleet battles when several BS focus on a single target they have to take it out with the first shot or it will warp out/repair. Thus how much damage you can put out in the first shot is pretty important. It's why tempest/abaddons get called primary right after EW targets. Tempest DPS is not that impressive but it's burst damage is(slow shooting but hits for a lot of damage).
