2. Passive targeter is worthless for anything you could concievably do with that Rifter.
3. An afterburner or microwarpdrive (preferably an mwd, allthough an afterburner might be better for a beginner) IS A MUST.
4. If you're going to try and kill another ship (and it sounds like that is what you're wanting), you need a warp disruptor or scrambler (preferably a disruptor for the range).
5. Who the hell pirates in a Scythe, how can you lose a Thrasher to a Scythe, and are you sure it wasn't a Scimitar?

if it WAS a scimitar, he's in a helluva lot more trouble trying to take it down in a rifter :P
Best pvp advice to give him in that case is dont bother, cause hes just gonna get butthurt :/

Edited by: Kuron Zee on 26/09/2007 02:42:30 It could have been a scymitar and it was my first time in that low of space and I have never pvp'd before I kinda locked up
I just checked and it had to have been a scimitar because he had two drones and even at the lowest lev of drones a scyth can only have one

Edited by: cal nereus on 26/09/2007 03:12:21 High: Choose one range and stick with it. Either all artillery or all autocannons (missiles go well with artillery, rockets with autocannons).
Med: Microwarpdrive (or Afterburner), plus Warp Scrambler/Disruptor, and perhaps a Stasis Webifier too. Otherwise, you won't be able to tackle your enemy and they can just run away.
Low: Sure, go for it.
You need more speed, you need modules to tackle your enemy (to prevent them from warping away), and you need firepower that works at one specific range (not multiple ranges). You need to get at your optimum range very quickly while tackling your enemy. ---

My rifter setup designed for taking on stuff bigger than yourself:
Hi 3x 150mm Auto Cannons 1x Rocket Launcher
Med 1x 1MN Afterburner 1x Warp Scrambler 1x Small Capacitor Booster (Cap 75 Charges)
Low 2x Small Armor Repairer 1x Energized Plating
Obviously get named or T2 were you can afford it, the cannons and armor reps taking priority and also give getting a cap booster with shortest activation time you can find a high priority too.
Get in and orbit as close and as fast as you can, have one repper running continuosly and tap the other for top-ups when needed. Dont wait till you're almost out of cap before using the booster, always try to keep your cap near max. You never know when you'll need to kick in both reps and those will drain your cap fast so always be prepared. Also be wary of the reload time on the booster. If you need cap urgently and you need a reload you're dead. Therefore whenever you find yourself with enough armor and cap to survive the reload time without needing a cap injection, take the opportunity to reload then and there.
With regards to the energized plating, if you know who you'll be up against you might be able to choose your type accordingly. If not I'd go for reactive rather than adaptive to plug the explosive resistance gap.
