I am looking for a good courier type ship to start working towards, mainly for running things like BP's around and checking markets in various regions. I am a carebear and seldom go to under .5 space, but some good defense would also be nice just in case, but mainly just looking for speed for running around all over.
It appears to me that with the "perfect" setup that interceptors can approach 1600 km/s - is my math off?

With an afterburner that sounds about right.
Fit a microwarpdrive and a pretty standard setup will take you upto 6km/s though. If you need the little extra space an interceptor provides over a shuttle then fly an inty as they're difficult to tackle in low sec unless you jump into a dedicated camp or get smartbombed.
If you're moving items that use less than 10m3 cargospace (blueprints for example) then just use a shuttle. [Balance] The Caldari problem. |

with the ULTRA perfect setup interceptors can push 12k m/s
1600k m/s is low warp. No ship can go that fast. You must be referring to 1600 m/s

6km is standard.
10km with a low grade set of snakes is very doable
And with heat, faction MWD and a fully maxed claymore pilot, well ive heard speeds in an intie pass 25km/s.

Actually a perfect setup for an inty, ie crow, with all relative applied bonuses will do a tad over 60km/s, if a little impractical.

With a bizarre ass setup and level V skills I can get a Vagabond up to 29,400m/s
With a real fit and one faction mod: 12,243m/s
But what you really want isn't a fast ship, but an invisible ship.
Try for a covops. They can warp cloaked. Fit a MWD to escape bubbles. ----------- Support fixing the EVE UI |

60km/s? How?
Best I can squeeze out of a Claw is 17.6km/s and that's with full Snakes and faction mods. ----------- Support fixing the EVE UI |

For high sec running around and interceptor is great. Just be aware that the weaker of the two has a faster max warp speed. I think the fastest you can go is about 13.5AU/sec. I have one with a 1MN MWDII 3xoverdriveII and 1xinertial stab II. It flies at >600m/s without the mwd on and is almost wtz with it on.

Don't know about breaking 60, but there is a screenshot somewhere of AngelusX's crow doing 52. I assume 60 would be maxed-out mindlink claymore, t2 polycarbs, HG snakes, full officer/rogue set, domi ODs, gistii A-type and possibly strong x-instinct.

I wouldn't use a Inty for running around valuables. Use a cov ops instead. They warp faster (13AU/s) and are pretty much impossible to lock before they cloak. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

Some interceptors (about half of them) warp at 13.5 AU/s as well. And a fast interceptor is far more survivable than a covert ops in 0.0 (in low-sec it's about the same, but in low-sec any fast frigate will do anyway). Especially an interceptor with a cloak on it. Nearly impossible to catch.

A covops firgate is a good choice, however, if you run into a strong gate camp with corpses and wrecks littered everywhere, it might be difficult to navigate your way out of the mobile warp bubble and remain cloaked.
Instead, if you have the isk, what you should do is:
1) Buy all the relevant speed implants LG or HG Snake set, CY-2, Navigation Hyper-Link, GY-2, MY-2
2) Max all relevant navigation skills related to speed and mwd cap usage
3) Train for a Crusader.
4) Fit it with an Improved Cloak I, Gistii-A MWD, Cap rech T2, 2x Domination overdrives, Local hull Istab, CPR2, and 2x Polycarb rigs.
What do you get with this setup ? You can permarun the MWD and fly indefinitely at over 15 Km/sec without any kind of gang bonus. But if you have to cloak, you will still be able to fly at 300 m/sec

Ill have to disagree on this. If a cov op jumps into a large bubble camp, the covert op will press mwd+cloak and speed out of the bubble with a speed of 2-3 km/s for about 10 seconds. You need to speed up, but you also "slide" 10 km, just from decreasing your speed. After that just warp off.
A claw would get dual webbed by a huggin, chased by vagabond/other inty or an interdictor/destroyer would damage you a lot.
With a cov op people dont know where you mwded to. they cant lock you, even with a 3* sensorboost Stilleto. So you are near invulnerable. _________________________________________________ Breetime

Hmmm.... I'd like to see how stable is the orbit, because at those speeds, you can't fly the thing manually, and if the orbit isn't stable, you must fly closer to the target in order to maintain it within disruptor range (you're solo right ?) to compensate the fluctuations, what in turn implies a smaller orbit, and hence less speed.
I've pushed a Machariel solo to 8.6 Km/sec and 12.5 Km/sec lately, but even with 3 istabs and 3 polycarbs, orbit wasn't as clean a I wished.
And actually the Crow can do a bit better with 1 BCU, 3xdread guristas or Caldari Navy launchers and faction bloodclaws.

Yep. If you aren't going to be scoop deploying, factor in the fact that your drones might just die.

The only purpose of such extreme speeds is to catch things that are also going crazy fast and none of those things have much of a tank so you don't really need to orbit.
Why would you use a 29km/s tackler to catch a ratting battleship? ----------- Support fixing the EVE UI |

Each race has 2 interceptors, one will warp 13.5 AU/s This is the one you want for your purposes. So if you go with Caldari I believe the Raptor is the one you want. There are also rigs that will raise your warp speed called hyperspatial velocity optimizer 1. With 2 of these you can go about 19.2 AU/s. Saves some time warping.
Throw on a micro warp drive and a cloak just for good measure. You can't carry a lot but if your just moving blueprints and other small stuff it works good.

And a fast interceptor with a cloak will do the exact same, except it will be faster. And should it get locked and fail to cloak it still has its high speed as a backup. Also, when warping into a bubble an interceptor will always be able to make it to the gate even if it gets webbed, as long as it turns its mwd on before they web it.

For low sec I always find the daredevil rocks, you can warp as fast as any other ship can CLOAK and fit a med extender/few resistance mods to help protect against smartbombs as well as a MWD to get some pretty reasonable speeds just incase you need it.

And as for the guy saying "why these crazy speeds", up to a point, you need every m/s to increase your transversal, as well as missile avoidance.

No, you can't.
Edit: clarified RCU is useless and that 25 != 37. Top PG implant increases limit to 123, and you lose the snake omega. Not worth it.
