Actualy no, thats not why I rat in a Rifter, I do that because its immense fun. The large side bonus is the replacment cost.

A corp mate (my main character's corp, obviously) rats in a Coercer. Only works against rats that don't use missiles though. And you have to take out the small ones first to survive, so no chaining battleship spawns.

Only issue I have in a solo rifter is having to take out the frigs as soon as they spawn and your limited on bounty size for the BS, around 800k.
Two Rifters though and the limit essentialy disappears, although highest we have taken down was 5mill TS so over that and I can't comment.
One Rifter is fun, two is plain amazing :) I did try ratting in bigger ships once but got bored after 10 minutes.

Originally by: Org2 I'm getting a little tired with whinging pseudo-pirate carebears (here I will call them WPPCs) on these forums and on TQ.
The other day I was ratting in 0.0, in a raven with a cloak, when 6 WPPCs entered my system. I immediately safespotted and cloaked. Eventually after some smacktalk they left.
Their smacktalk essentially consisted of complaints about cloaking ravens, and they were suggesting other ways for me to escape from them - all of which would ultimately have made me easy fodder for them.
For instance, they suggested that I warp from safespot to safespot - never mind the fact that it takes a raven quite some time to warp.
The fact is, if I didn't have the ability to safespot and cloak, I couldn't be in 0.0 at all - the odds would be so heavily stacked against me that I would never regain the cost of a raven and its setup.
My raven ratting setup costs around 170 mil isk - how could I possibly recoup that if I was being killed on a regular basis?
You cannot stack the odds against 0.0 ratters - otherwise there will be no 0.0 ratters to hunt down - think about it!
Regarding logoffski, WPPCs apparently think there is something intelligent about blobbing a gate and killing anything that comes through.
In fact it is about the most pathetic way of making money in EVE. How difficult and challenging is it really to scramble an indy or shuttle?
I am constantly telling my 7 year old son to stop playing easy levels of his games - because he will only gain some benefit from being challenged.
So to the WPPCs, I say, go and find something a little bit more challenging than blobbing.
Until then, I fully support logoffski - why the heck should someone lose his/her hard earned isk to a bunch of lazy WPPCs?
EVE is a huge game. Why limited your money making to such a lame activity?
I fail to see how there is anything "carebear" about what those people did. I'm going to out on a limb here and say you just threw the work "Carebear" in there so as a pseudo insult but kinda failed.

Sounds fair enough to me.
You have a legitimate method of avoiding certain death. They can't beat you up in game so smack instead. You've won by making them smack. If they weren't annoyed they wouldn't smack.
... and whinge and whine both contain copious amounts of win, but smacktalking gangbear contains none!

Pirates whine when they can't kill someone.
Care-bears whine when they get killed.
Alts whine constantly.
What's your point? If we didn't care enough to complain then the game would obviously suck. Whining is in-fact a direct representation of how much people enjoy the game, otherwise they'd simply cancel their sub instead of trying to "fix" it. You only try to repair broken items when you value them, otherwise you replace them.
In short: We whine because we care.

I'm Khan Soriano and I'm an WPPC (you would say it anyway so i just beat you to it).
First of all you really really have to be a dumb **** to get caught by some idiots roaming in 0.0. Been there, done that and I never used a cloak and I never was caught/lost a ratting ship, the ones I did lost (well nobody is perfect) was when I was tempted by some mates to PVP in them. So forget your stories about 'being killed on a regular basis', if you did before that means you're an idiot and you deserve to die anyway.
Second.... you tell your kid to challenge himself in a game yet you play EVE in a totally un challenging (quadriplegic easy as somebody said) way, talk about double standards. ----- Arbitrator - Life & Death |

Who cares.
Most pirates hunt in overwhelming force and you don't want to get killed by them, fit a cloak and don't listen to them.
If they really, really wanted to flush you out, maintain sovereighty of the system, they wouldn't leave.
They can't demand to kill everyone they see and believe me, if they entered a system with an overwhelming amount of hostiles, they'd probably leave or cloak as soon as possible themselves.
So if you don't want to get killed, cloak and alike.
If you hunt someone that cloaks, and alike, find a new target.
I have no respect for people entering a system only to complain about a cloaking ship and then leave again.

Dude your 7yr old knows a lot more about games than you do. See, hes playing the game for "fun" while your playing it to "work".
As for gankbear yeah. Any time you stack the odds so heavily in your favor than failure just isnt possible (missioning carebear, megablob gatecamp etc) you most definitely are a carebear.
Carebear essentially means removing all risk from the equation. It doesnt matter if your on the attacking or defending side of the equation and so long as its balanced properly both sides will whine/whinge equally about not being able to 100% guarantee their own success.

So, there are people who think "Hey, I could add another X, but that would make me too powerful, so I'll leave it out to give others a chance of killing me." ? Seriously? This is just silly. Only if play and fun existed without benefits, then you would be right - but that is not the case.
Play and fun have fundamentally important benefits for children (and also adults), and they only exist because of these benefits.
Children playing outside with sticks for example develop a whole range of skills and their mental well-being is enhanced.
But it should be age-appropriate play and fun. A 7 year old doing something that a 2 year old can do reduces the benefit of play and fun.
For example, a 7 year old playing with a baby's rattle is not giving much to the child, except perhaps some very limited boredom relief.
It's the same with computer games. A 7 year old playing a game that a 2 or 3 year old can do is merely boredom relief, and does not give much benefit at all.

You have no idea wtf you're talking about. I've escaped from having 50 men hostile fleet with 2 coverts with 25 second probe times hunting me in my fleet fitted abaddon(with plates I might add) by warping from safespot to safespot. When you get into a fleet fight and your side has to retreat thats how you stay alive. It works 99% of the time. They get extremely lucky AND have their prober in a covert ops frig scram you, a risky proposition as 5 light drones will tear apart a covert in no time at all, in order to kill you.

Wtf? My ratting raven costs 30mil to replace and I can take on triple 1.85mil spawns no problem. In addition, I dont use a cloak and almost never get ganked. Its called watching local and getting aligned to a safespot when a neutral enters it.
Quote: You cannot stack the odds against 0.0 ratters - otherwise there will be no 0.0 ratters to hunt down - think about it!
Actually, the vast majority of people I know dont fit cloaks on their ratting ships.

Ya, when a similar sized gang comes to break your camp. I've personally participated in oh so many break ups of gatecamps. Its the only way you can get pvp in 0.0 outside of pos warfare nowadays. Camping a gate and breaking up the gatecamps.

An inty with an average pilot at the helm is nigh impossible to catch if he doesnt want to fight you. Jump into a gate camp? No problem! wait 20 seconds and mwd back to the gate, jump and then instawarp on the other side!
You obviously have no clue about anything regarding pvp.

I agree. NPCing in a cloak fitted raven is the most brainless and easiest way to make isk. Even highsec miners have to deal with ore thieves. And due to huge numbers of highsec miners, many are using explorations to scan down profitable belts that still have ore like omber. That involves FAR more effort than npcing in a cloak fitted raven.
Btw, roaming gangs are not about making isk, but rather getting pvp without having to gatecamp. You DONT make enough isk on roaming gangs from the depressed t2 module values to make up for losses like poly rigged vagas costing 200mil to replace.
