This only causes problems for alliances that rely solely on their supercaps to get anything done. If you don't have the support, you're not supposed to use supercaps. If you have adequate support, you need not worry about probes.
In my opinion, and from the devs from the various blogs they've written.
M8, there was adequate support for said titan, hence the enemy cap ships that died for taking it out :) The pilot had just logged in, wasn't even in gang yet, had come out of warp in his log out safe spot, cloaked and was getting info sorted to join the fight and had enemy dictors warp right into him. This was not some solo pilot getting ganked, RA/AAA/IAC paid a heavy price for it. From what I hear(I was at work when the fight went down) we held the field and looted the titan wreck, so yeah, it had support
The only reason it died, was application of extreme firepower to the point that its tank couldn't hold it, long enough for the support to clear the enemy dreads. Again I was not present at the fight, so I'm going off of second hand data here, if someone else has a different story, by all means speak up. If you think that MC relies solely on supercaps, you might want to rethink yourself and get an education in eve history, if you weren't, then ignore my prior comment.
I agree using caps/supercaps should be risky, you shouldn't be invulnerable, but using your own comment as an example, the supercap pilot would never be able to logoff/login, they'd have to be online 23/7, which isn't going to happen. I'm not complaining about the kill, it was an excellant trap using existing game mechanics, and honestly, it died doing what it was intended to do, draw fire so we can kill enemy caps, it may have even made our conquest of FAT go a little quicker with the reduction in RA/AAA capitals in system. My issue is that the game mechanics, imo, need adjusting as the sig radius was increased too much.
My point still stands, you should not be able to scan down a titan/mom, hell any ship that friggin fast at that kind of range.
Edit for clarification purposes: The enemy covert ops pilot who probed it out, did it the night prior when the titan pilot logged. He had from the time the titan self uncloaked at logout, to the 1 minute disappear from space timer to probe it out, due to a super caps size, it takes 30-45 seconds to get into warp for the 1 mil km disappear point, hence he got the actual safespot.
then what is the problem he was NOT ofline?! O.o i see no problem that a ship with the sieze of a planet cannot hide in a safe spot, to think so is redicules.
a supercap should ALWAY have the support around it, and making sure it isn't making the solopownage tactic in a system without freindly pos's to hide by..
this seems like one if not the only way to get the superpownage cap ship without tking it head on when it his the best odds..
nicely done to the other part ^^
besides it is the same for any ship. if you don't want to be prepared you shouldn't exspect to be 100% save, and with X players working to hit you, they should be able to find you and do so if your not doing your work right (making sure to log of inside a pos ship or login with a reasonable support around your ship... taking 10secounds to get inside a gang, if the enemy kills your titan within that time they deserve it.)
increased too much?! are you freaking stoned?! Signal size: Pre patch Erebus: 7.325 Thorax: 9.33 Myrmidon: 16.66 Megathron: 19 Post patch Erebus: 80
okey how much bigger then a megathron is the titan again?! it's sigh should be neare 2425 since it is 128 times bigger in it's volume.
but the fact doesn't math the titan is only 19 times as heavy as the bs but. 128 times bigger in it's volume :S WTF
