Edited by: Nuladen on 18/02/2004 10:56:55 Hmmm, just checked my CC statement which shows this:
Quote: 26 Jan 2004 CCP Reykjavik IS ú7.30 DR 12.95 USD @ 1.773972603
Now seeing as how I'm in the UK I'm getting charged USD which just makes it cheaper for me.

Quote: Well with the UK Pound (ú) hitting $1.91 this morning I think I may go home tonight and give both my accounts a six month extension...
At that exchange rate $14.95 only works out to about ú8 per month... (less than 3 pints of lager at London prices)
But as of the 25th of Feb they will charge you in Euro's not US dollar's because you are in the EU. Unless you have an accounts that will be billed before the 25th then you will pay in Euro's from now on. Which means that the UK-US exchange rate means nothing.

Edited by: Maya Rkell on 18/02/2004 11:00:26 Yea, I'm considering a 3 month sub myself.
On the EU side, sure, the tax sucks. But CCP have to do it. On the US side, the dollar is really THAT weak. So I can understand they have to raise prices as CCP are essentially European-based.
As for SWG, their rates are EXCLUDING tax. So add 17.5% on for Europeans.

Seem I forgot that the SWG price didn't have VAT. Well spotted. But $14.95 + 20% (EU Vat average) is $17.94. Euro's 14.95 = $19.24 I'm ashamed to say this but Eve is more expensive that SWG

MInes only $12.95 where did u get 14.95?..
Also CCP took a battering when they offered 2nd accounts for $18.95 Because lots of people bought them. CCP saw the interest and whacked them up to 29.95 i think then must have lost out so there dropped again back to 19.95. Greed springs to mind here. "Teh lord of Nonni"

It's basic economics. Bump the price up of the 1-month subscriptions, but in order to ensure long-term success, offer the lengthier subscriptions at a lower over all price. It's like walking into a shop and buying in bulk. You can routinely get 200g of sugar, but buying 1Kg in bulk is more cost-effective in the long run. CCP are simply employing a trick that has been around for years, and who's to blame them?
"CCP just want to make money..."
And? Of course they want to make a game to the best of their abilities, and with a game like this their prime concern is that of customer satisfaction. However, like any business, their goal is to make money. Coupled with the new EU tax and the slipping value of the dollar, the hike in prices is a little more pronounced, but come on, itÆs hardly as if CCP are the anti-Christ trying to fleece you of your hard-earned cash is it?

Crumbs! Better dust off the old passport and visit the inlaws in Ohio! We could hit $2.00 any day/week now.

The main problem is for european customers because atm 1 EUR is about 1,22-1,27 USD. So we not only have to pay a bit more.. we have to pay in EUR and that is what makes it real expensive!! The game is worth it's money but not with that tactic (first we get some new players and then we raise the fees of 1 months subscription for europeans about 43%!!! (6 months 27%).

as i am in the UK i should be taxed on the UK VAT and not the EU vat shurly? when i played Planetarion (waaaay back when) it had a set charge at the start of each round that worked it to be the same value where-ever you came from US, UK, EU or whereever

Quote: Now that EVE Online will have a monthly subscription of € 14.95 or $14.95, does EVE Online now have the highest subscription rate of the any of the current MMOGs?
well if u look at it this way Eve has the highest rate of beta testers out of ALL the MMOG's who pay 14.95 a month includeing me but in another year or so this game will be balanced and worth the 15.95 well thats if CCP raises the subscription 1$ every year we'll see
