We had a guy struggling with Tiscali because they block the EVE port. Something to do with their fair usage policy.
They don't people playing games and downloading they just want casual surfers. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game three years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

They are insisting at the moment it is not to do with their fair usage policy, mainly because if it was , they would have broken their own rules by not informing people first and giving them the option to cut back. It clearly states customers would be informed 3 times before anything would happen.

Switch ISPs - apparently Tiscali randomly disconnects ports when they get too much traffic. ---------------

A known issue from so long ago........ and it seems getting worse now. perhaps if they were straight with people we would not be going though this again. Do you honestly believe it's taken so long to sort out, the fact that it happens at certain times suggests it is no fault but quite deliberate.

thanks for the replys, still cannot connect to server, really ****ed off now, the weekend is the only time i get to play, i just have to hope they unblock the ports later this evening, some hope.
i guess i shold call and complain but judging from other posts regarding this problem tiscali customer services don't seem to care. i can't believe i pay good money to tiscali for only a partial service, it stinks.

each of these ISP's were owned or used pipex for there internet accsess. and now pipex have been bought by Tascali. BBC news report. so I would expect over time each of these servises to continualy get worse as they "load balance" there network.
however currently I am on Pipex and my connection has been prity stable, only really bad on bank hollidays

..and if true it says something truly horrible about Tiscali as an ISP. Online gaming is low and fairly constant bandwidth usage. In that respect it's very easy to deal with. Catering for the latency requirements can be a pain but ISPs don't block traffic for that. They just ignore complaints and wait for the gamers to leave for a different ISP.
If Tiscali's network is so bad that it can't handle the ISP-friendly activities of online gaming then it truly is a crap network. My guess it's that there's some kind of routing issue that is preventing them exchanging packets with the Eve cluster rather than anything related to bandwidth usage. Still pretty crappy though :-/ -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

just a note, but at 8 minutes past 12 i was able to log on to eve.
tiscali are a bunch of f****ing b*****d's
sorry for the language but i am so angry that they have the power, ability, will, to stop me accessing the internet and there seems nothing i can do about it, if i was downlloading movies etc 24/7 then i could understand them a little, even though they sell there srvice as unlimited, but all i want to do is play eve, surely that can't take up much bandwidth, can it?
it feels to me like some form of censorship of the internet! i guess i will have to look around for a new isp, the thing that sticks in my throat is tiscali don't give a dam if i quite,
rant mode off.
