I cant believe they adapt the mission to what you have fitted though.....CCP dont spend time on some basics so I cant believe they have on such a diverse (although interesting ) aspect of missions.
I still want mulitple hangers in personal hanger space...is that so hard ? Or a search facility on my assets ....?

They detect the ship to come up with a mission type. Having done a lot of testing recently there is a difference. BUT: Difficulty of the mission only depends on agent lvl, not on your ship. so if you get a combat mission, youll get the same one in a kestrel or raven, but you should get statistically more kill missions in a raven. (though im not sure as what they classed the kestrel in as, fighter or courier)

Courier, I belive. Done 30 misions in kestrel for my new lvl3 agent and not one kill mision.

Edited by: Drice on 19/03/2004 11:49:46 Edited by: Drice on 19/03/2004 11:49:25 One of the problems I have with agent kill missions is that at higher levels they require a fair degree of combat skill training, and even seemingly peaceful industrial corps give them out...there is no where for non-combatant agent runners to go.
One of the big implementations for Castor was Tech 2 and R&D agents...this and a few other develpoments are generating a change in pilot development towards "specialisation".
Now...I have a specialised Research character, so INT and MEM are my best attributes. Inorder to keep apace with research I have to do R&D missions...to get good R&D agents I have to get good standings with their corps by working for the other agents....and often this means kill missions - bear in mind that with my lousy PER & WILL my combat skills are woefully lacking. So, I train up my research skills, then my social skills, plus some navigation skills for speedier mission running...and eventually get a good R&D agent. Now to work for them I need to train the tech 2 research skills, many of which require "general" skills at level 5 (eg engineering, mechanics, etc). Eventually (hopefully) I will receive a valuable Tech 2 BP (having done the R&D bonus missions most days since Castor started, I am still awaiting an offer).
When I have the BP I will want to build from it...which means training production skills too...not a problem with my INT/MEM.
Somewhere in this process I need to add decent combat ability if I am to have any hope of keeping up with The Joneses when lev 4 agents come out...with a PER of 9 that is gonna be slooooww going :(
So after 6 months of character development, and an outlay of many millions for skills, ships, equipment and things to keep my R&D agent happy (homless, science grads and the like) I still have little to show for it. And if I want to maximise the character's potential I have to shell out 40M for Research Management Skill and then spend most of my time travelling between up to 6 R&D agents to run their missions which generate no income on a mission by mission basis. And of course there are still those combat skills to learn :(
Hmmm....makes my 2 month old combat specialist pilot who can run a BS and farm NPCs at 1-2M per hour without too much difficulty, and run kill missions for lev 3 agents in the Military Corps - which are usually very quick and easy requiring only 1 or 2 jumps - look very good value for time/money.
Is it just me or does there seem to be some imbalance between these two "specialist" paths here?

im reading your post and thinking "why is it in this tread ?"...
however i do understand your point... you are very much approaching this from a single person angle and you are correct in that you need a whole array of skills to follow the path you have suggested. this is un-fortunate for the solo players but un-avoidable.
i did notice one major flaw in your post.
Quote: When I have the BP I will want to build from it
yeah right.....you gotta get the bp first and that it seems is near enuf impossible. unless you allready have a tech 2 bp in which case it seems your more than likley to get a whole shed load more.
anyhow this has nothing to do with the introduction of lvl 4 agents that were mentioned a few weeks back and then slipped into obscurity.

The answer to this is to turn down missions you don't think that you can do, just like most people turn down Science Grads and Homeless missions for R&D stuff. What could be simpler? It's not true that solo players players who don't concentrate on kill missions can't do them, I solo all agent missions and I'm not a combat orientated character by any means.
As to 'when you get the BP' don't forget that the ³berest R&D person will on average sit through 131 BP draws before getting a BP offer, based on the figures that PapaSmurf gave earlier and that the R&Der keeps his relative position in the pack throughout the project. I've got no idea how often draws occur, but we're talking months here (and statistically it could easily be a lot longer) - and that's for the person with the most RPs. Personally I think the best way to maximise your chances of winning is to get RPM and train up your science skills and then let your agents idle unless you're sitting on top of them, anything more and I highly doubt the effort will be worth it. Sure you may be increasing your chances, but when the top R&Der is rewarded with a 0.76% chance of winning the chances of a good reward are very slim, and not that different from someone idling the agent who would have a 0.58% chance of winning all other things being equal. Is an extra 0.18% chance of winning really worth doing the bonus RP missions every day for 4 months?

OMG, Judiciator was so right in his post! It's actually rather scary to think of a father of three writing like that...
If the devs spent their time sifting through the boards answering every post dripping with cheap emotional blackmail, we still wouldn't even have the Castor patch, I bet.

Didnt people realise they could just *turn down* the bs kill missions instead of getting their ass kicked and then crying? ffs that annoyed me more than ccp removing them ..:: Electro-shock therapy ::..

What Abra said.
Shouldn't the missions have an element of risk, and not just be a movement ever higher up the ladder of corp standing with obscene ease.
Why should all L3 missions be doable. Add some harsh ones in there so that players have to make a choice about wether to risk that shiny moa in a fight against harder NPC's or to take the standing hit.
Me? I mine I refine I build and I do Agent Missions for a Lai Dai Internal Security Agent. Elena Gratzky and Friends? Yawn. Emissary? Yawn. I'm marching up the corporate ladder with 8.3 so far. Give me a few stumbling blocks. Make me make a choice. Give me a little more risk on Agent missions.
The new merc commander certainly made me jump when I first came across him and for that I thank CCP, but please couldnt they add just a few multiple 85k rat missions? For me? Please?
Never met Zor, but I understand he's a really nice chap. Bring him back so I can be introduced properly.
Roids are a Menece I tell you, hunt then down I say, hunt them down!!
