If you don't know me, I'm Curzon Dax - Eve Idol, parody master, Battleship Champion of Eve, forum-fu master, and most importantly in context to your interest: Extravagantly rich carebear. Every so often I host contests, events, and general goofiness in order to justify giving a billion ISK away; and its time for another contest. :) Episode #4: Who Wants To Be A Billionaire? The object of this contest is to pick a song that I have not done a parody of yet. You must write complete lyrics to the song, topical to Eve, and humorous. Once complete, find and upload a karaoke backtrack of the song to the internet and include it in your post. Upload sites that work: www.yousendit.com and www.eve-files.com. Participants may submit as many entries as they wish, limited to one entry per post. Judging will look at relevance to Eve or CCP, as well as humor. Dodiez and I will be co-judging. The winning set of lyrics will be turned into a song, performed, and immortalized on the internet. This contest will be accepting entries until November 1, 2007. Good luck to everyone, and get those creative juices flowing!

ry ry StateCorp The State	Posted - 2007.10.01 15:15:00 - [21] Edited by: ry ry on 01/10/2007 15:18:31 This is well known (i.e. i'm sure curzon knows already) but marginally relevant and might be of interest to anybody looking to make some backing tracks... if you import an mp3 into any old audio editing proggy (Audacity/goldwave/whatever) as 2 chan stereo, invert the phase of one of the channels & anything in the center of the mix will be muted out(ish). lead vocals are usually center of the mix, so you can strip them down that way. further out something is the clearer it'll be. i'd imagine that's all that winamp plugin is doing.

Been there, tried that, in both Winamp and Audacity and a few other programs. Really doesn't work on MP3s. Would work better on MIDIs, but you have to find them first. Best you can hope for with an MP3 is to use a program that 'subdues' the vocals. They'll still be slightly faint (maybe not noticeable once new lyrics are put?) and won't distort the rest of the sounds (instruments, reverb, bass, etc) as much as inverting the tracks would.
