Hey, this might be a dumb question, but I remember I used to see a lot of curse setups with shield tanking, and recently I've only seen armour tanks. Could someone give me a pointer?

Anyone shield tanking the Curse deserves to die a slow horrible death.
Curse needs its mids to do its work as a recon, so it really only has its lows to tank. Plus, it's an Amarr boat, classical armor tankers. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

That's what I would have thought, but the whole Khanid MKII patch made me think things might have changed.

SPEED TANK IT. You get a range bonus ffs. Stay at range and at high speed and nothing can touch you. Neut any tacklers that get close and gtfo when things get too hot.

Speed tank is a given, yeah, but I've seen people fit a rep or regen mod in just to reduce downtime.

puts on flamesuit... but I had some fun with a passive shield tank... probably not the best solution, and it wasn't terribly strong... but I did get quite a few kills with it. That said, speed tank is the way to go! -- so as not to confuse you, everything below those two little lines is my forum signature. Now i just need to think or something worth putting here... |

Speed and damps.
But if I had to choose between shield or armor tanking, I'd shield tank it since you can use the lows for speed.

And it can indeed work quite well with a shield tank, all bonused modules short of Tracking Disruptors are highslot, and they rarely take up all mids.
Another good thing with the shield tank is that you can burn quite a lot of cap rather quickly, which means you can control your own cap level quite better and still have room for a decent speedtank.
My only point is that there is no omnisetup for curses. It all depends on your skills, implants, gang and intentions. Don't go picking up a hammer and ask what you can do with it, ask what tools you should use to nail goons.

But after three really fun fights in a row, the lagmonster ate my curse. So you know. Three cheers for speedtanking :p

Did you hear about that 'reading' thing as well? I already speedtank it. I was just asking a question.

I'd suggest a small passive shield HP buffer (just an LSE or two) and damps. Armor tanked Curses don't work too well in practice.

Did you know you can speed tank it? :p
I fit damps on mine... not enough grid left for a large shield booster and a medium doesn't cut it.

Heres my post nos nerf setup...
Highs: 4x HAM II, Medium Neut. Mids: 10mm mwdII, LSEII, Cap booster(400's)warp disrupter II (24km range) 2x Abandon TD's. Lows: BCU II, 2x ODII, I-stabII Drones: 5x HHII, 5x Warrior II Rigs: 2x Polycarbon
2900 top speed, deals 408 dps, neuts 360-380 cap every 12 seconds, sustainable with cap boosters.
You wont break a tank like you could b4, but you have "ALOT" more dps and can scram out fast when the going gets tough. Gunships wont touch you, and the neut easily 1 shots a inties/dictors cap...

Lol, sorry. My sense of humour just kind of goes out the window when the same joke is tried about a dozen times.

In case you wern't aware, a speed tank...
pre-nos nerf I also tried fitting dual reps and Small NOS to it, it can then tank fairly well and still has some nice range (15km) for solo work, but now the NOS nerf has hit it's a bit too cap heavy methinks. ---
