I'm not sure they belong anywhere. The fitting requirements are high and potential benefits not that appealing. Amarr ships? Get your fix today |

Long warps. Also, higher cap amount increases the peak regen/helps maintain stable cap. If you are attempting to create a cap stable setup, a cap battery(especially an oversized one) can make all the difference.

It really depends on the ship. Often, a cap battery will provide more cap recharge than a cap recharger, but you do have to take the fitting requirements into account. And also it just provides you more buffer.
Pretty much, they're for if you can spare the fitting requirements and it gives more net cap recharge than a cap recharger. In the case of T2, it's gotta be over 25% of your base capacitor (unmodified by skills). ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

Small cap battery II's are very useful on an AF to help offset the MWD penalty. Putting larges on a cruiser is very nice. I can perma run 2 med rep II's on a vexor

Good for sticking on a tech 1 frig in order to affix a viable MWD.

Like most "extender" modules, only good for oversizing.
In carebearing purposes, on guardian or some other logistic, for pvp injector works better there. Also on ishtar for perma running mwd & rep and stuff like that.

The grid use really is pretty bad on those things. Only regular use I know of is people putting them on cov ops friggies so they don't cap out as badly on long warps.

If you're cap transferring people shooting at POSes, you want a cap battery on your logistic. You'll run out of charges very quickly.

Indeed, logistics cruisers are /the/ candidates for fitting cap batteries.

Edited by: Kazuma Saruwatari on 05/10/2007 12:38:10 Note that the capacitor lasts as long as you have cap charges in your hold, so there is no true "cap stable" design that has a high-drain item like a MWD, discounting dedicated cap-stable designs with such, but it'll surely eat at anything else that'll be viable in terms of combat.
Then again, there are perma-MWD setups out there for certain ships that are cap-stable, without the use of a cap booster. -

Those are both the only times I use cap batteries. And they work pretty good. :)

I sometimes drop a large shield extender for a large cap battery on my vaga to make it cap sustainable... its better than a cap booster, as I don't need to micro manage cap charges, and a cap recharger doesn't boost the recharge rate enought. Cap Batteries have their uses... -- so as not to confuse you, everything below those two little lines is my forum signature. Now i just need to think or something worth putting here... |

Large cap batteries to wonders to the recharge rate on cruisers/hacs. I can't really see a reason to use any other size of cap battery though.

Got 2 x Large Peroxide batteries on my MWD salvage stabber, I never run into cap issues and they're much cheaper than CR2's.

On some ships they add more cap regen than a cap recharger. The Ishtar for example. ----------- Support fixing the EVE UI |
