PVP =
Atack only if u got ATLEAST 60% chanse of victory
Be prepare to run FAST - Dont not EVER stay if u are unsertain from outcome
If u are alone, use speed and target Weak target
If u are pirating and atakking large Groups of miners Etc.. - use Long range and kill weak targets
dont stay to long in one plase
Create a Good web of Bookmarks in areas u operate
Dont rely to much on EW - its good but u still need frepower and protection (and they may be some anti-EW huntters)
Dont launch from station if u are surroundet ( my frend did it once and lost his ship)
in gank Fleets target always the Wakest target in force
U can evede Cruisemissiles by warping and stopping ur ship before it warps compleatly
Prefer Guns over missiles
Newer EVER reveal ur setup of ship
Inshure ur ship 99%
Remeber!: Cap = life . get loads of Cap relays if possible
Do not stay if u see some one MWD towards u .. He prolly got soething EVIL planned
Train ur skills to get higes possibe preformance from ur ship
Get loads of Good frends - alone u are nothing else than lil pest...
Get a purpose for ur Killings.... it makes easier to pull the trigger -------------------------------------------

I also assume you pretty much NEED a battleship to compete? Can you do it in a crusier?
You don't need a battleship for pvp, you just need to be skilled. I've seen J0sephine kill an Apoc with a Kestrel on chaos.
As for being good at pvp, no matter how many skill points you have there is always the possibility that you will get pwned. This is mostly down to tactics, loadout and equipment. It isn't about who hits the hardest. So learning to be good at pvp means learning how to best fit your ship and anticipate your opponents possible setup.

Absolutely not! When the PFM started none of us was in anything bigger than a Rupture, and iirc we only had the one, plus a couple of Bellicose. None of us had had any kind of PvP experience and I think I nearly had a heart attack in our first attack the adrenaline was going so fast.
We simply picked our targets carefully and made sure we could usually predict the outcome. Sometimes that means running away (I mean a skillful retreat ) or making sure you have superior numbers (oh the smacktalk in local afterwards ).
These days I do have access to a BS, but if given a choice I would nearly always go for my frigate in a PvP hunt with cruisers and maybe a single BS. Much more effective. The sooner people realise that BSs are not the goal of the game, the sooner they will be happy.

In Eve, "fair" has no meaning.
The best Pvp set up in the world won't help you if you're heavily outnumbered. You'll get dead real quick and local will get spammed with "PWNED" or something similarly mature.
If you're playing with a small group, picking your fights is ESSENTIAL. Hurling yourself at a gatecamp against 12 BS's is absolute suicide unless you have equivalent numbers.
Be proactive and find targets you can beat or at least stand a chance against. Don't let the fight come to you. --------------

In the world of castor, there are many opportunities for frigate and cruiser pilots.
These vessels are essential for combat.
If you want a good place to start, killing indies with a kestral is a good way to go. It'll get you used to basic EW, reaction time, and hunting.
Get a couple of mates together, and go harass someone. It doesn't have to be pirating, pick on someone that's upset you, or some nasty pirate corp :)

specialise all you training time from now into fighting skills. Two months of specialised (one race-, one gun type) training. This can make you strong enough to be a very viable fighter to start with.
Then (or before) get your ass in a (semi-) pvp corp that can trian you in the tactics and knows the good stuff on the set-ups that work.
2 million dedicated skillpoints can make you a good (but rather specialised) fighter, together with experience.
And no a BS is by no means required if you dont take on another BS 1v1 (and even then it might not be)

I saw the fight. The Apoc wasn't well set up (it didn't have a shield booster). I think it was more of a proof of concept than a real fight. In a real fight you'd need at least two Kestrels...
