Firstly, I apologise if this is in the wrong forums, but this is potentially good news for me so Im being quick.
Could somebody please tell me if these 5 slots are PCI-E. I've always thought that I've just had AGP

Note that a basic PCI slot will not hold a PCI-E Video Card. It sounds like you're thinking about buying a new video card, and your video card slot probably is AGP, you can not put a PCI Express Video Card on that board assuming your current video card is sitting in an AGP slot.

Lets see a picture of the slot that the current video card is sitting in, maybe from a different angle if you dont want to pull the card. But if your system is telling you that the card is AGP, then you only have AGP.

your card is AGP. i can tell from some of the transistors and having seen quite a few cards in my time

You mean the capacitors? Transistors in modern computers are microscopic and buried in chips.
To OP: Those are vanilla PCI slots (not PCI-E). In short, you can't cram a PCI-E card in there and get video out of it.

Well, PCI is kind of the "standard" for non-video cards these days. Most things are PCI, and you can even get standard PCI vidcards if you're not doing anything heavy with it.
I remember the days of all ISA slots and motherboards had one VESA slot for a videocard. Then it was ISA + VESA + PCI, then VESA bit the dust and it was PCI all the way, then AGP, and now PCI-X.
It's always something. I still have the very first motherboard I purchased myself. A 486DX2/66 with 4 SIMM slots and a VESA local bus slot. That thing would play Ultima Underworld and Wing Commander in pimp mode, it was awesome. :D

Theres various cards you can buy for a regular PCI slot, like sound cards, firewire port cards, etc. They just haven't been suited to the throughput needed for graphics cards for many years. They're like the "Low Slots" of PC's

Your sound card will fit if it has PCI slots so no problem there. Easiest way to find processor compatibility is to look up the specs of your current processor then look at the motherboard that you want online. Normally it says in the specs what types of processors the motherboard is capable of accepting. Even easier though is just to buy a new processor too, you'll probably need to buy new RAM as well as that may not be compatible either.

actually I meant transistors, I felt it suited the nature of the joke better
