First ?
Your age (you have to be 18 to apply), so what if I am 19.345 years of age?
Oh, and six a month that is a lot of stories how much of those are expexted to actualy be featured on EVE TV? ------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

Hmmm... while I applaud both the decision to make EVE TV free and this initiative which might just make it worth watching as well, I predict armies of partisan 'embedded' reporters churning out propaganda to and fro - I wonder how you will avoid that, since impartiality and objectivity are not part of your requirements for the job. :)

Tuesday; The Veldspar in New Eden respawned today. Wednesday; The Veldspar in New Eden depleted today. Chribba was online.
I think I'll not go so close to reporting news hehe you all would be so bored
Looking forward to hearing more news from our beloved universe. Keep up the great work!
Did you find Chribba's LoveCan? |

I hope some 'immersionalists' will go for this. I've loved Eve-TV so far, especially now when it's free, but it's really been lacking on the story side of things.
I do however suggest to not put some "ROLEPLAY" tag on it. In the tournament coverage for example I was slightly annoyed with roleplayers being placed like they are some special breed of players. ;) There's no need to divide Eve players into RP'ers/non-RP'ers.

Will "News Clones" exist as a corporation? Is there an alt disclosure policy? What rules govern the activities of a News Clones reporter?
Interesting idea.

Maybe some sort of ISK bounty for stories would be an appropriate incentive.

So will this replace the actually never active "The Scope" reporters? And what will happen to written news? No more written news?
btw, "The Scope" was a much better name. Who came up with something like "News Clones"? ^^

I was considering this too, but then I did as Chribba did, and considered how interesting someone would find 6 stories per month on how rebellious elements of the Veldspar and Scordite Alliance were repeatedly put down and exterminated, only to reappear fully reinforced the next day.
There should be some talented people out there in the EVE Universe that can make this an interesting propsect. I look forward to reading their stuff.

"Everybody wants to be in News Clones"
... change that name, pleasepleaseplease! It does not hold up to the promised "fortune and glory".
Good idea otherwise, I would love to participate. The thing is, though, that having reporters commit to an amount of stories per month is very practical for the News staff (who know what to expect), but less for the reporters themselves. I occasionally have news to report, but what am I going to do when I have nothing to report? Write up something fictional for the sake of appearances?
I would very much prefer applying, and submitting good news reports when I have some. Obligations are never good in a game, in my humble opinion. I think EVE generates enough news worthy events not to need that, but then, maybe I misunderstood the requirements.

My first reaction was this would be great and fun to do then I saw how many stories you need to do a month. 6 are far to steep. Maybe 1 per week could be more doable. I was hoping for more like 2 a month. You would rather write a 300 word story twice a month than six 100 word stories. Considering that your first commitment would be your own corp and then you need to find time to investigate stories from both parties can take a while. And you would especially want to investigate that the stories are real. Your name is at stake here, you write a story which is so false and one sided because that was the only lead you had, people will start doubting your story. Then there’s the question of ‘how do I find a new story’ In the real world journalists and producers have access to wires which tells them what is happening around the country and the world. With times of meetings, conferences, protests etc. How would these news clones find their stories?
Just something to think about.

I'd like to get involved in this project but as a "newbie" my knowledge regarding Eve Online's game play, it's player base and politics is quite limited at the moment.
In my opinion also, sixty words for a news article would be inadequate. I agree more content and a little less often would provide greater scope for writers and prove more interesting for Eve TV viewers.
Would Eve TV give writers assignments to fulfill or are they leaving the content of articles up to the individual ?
If people are left to report on any subject they choose then we might see a lot of biased reporting, political manipulation and attempts at making Eve TV a propaganda tool for alliances.
