Originally by: Some Caldari Edited by: Some Caldari on 08/10/2007 23:58:35 It's from the PS2 RPG thing called Ico where you have to save a girl called Yorda from a huge castle inhabited entirely by some generic demon thing that I assume the developers were too lazy to texture so made them look like evil black fog. You do this by holding her hand and walking very ******* slowly through massive but empty halls for 5 hours before getting bored and playing something with large breasted characters or toilet humor like I did.
Thanks, now I know I'm really not missing out on anything.

eve isn't really fun... at least not after the first hour, it's just kinda 'comforting'. I tend to prefer games where i can charge peasants with huge herds of elephants, so for me the total war games are the most fun :D _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]

Have to say...no.
It has fun elements and you do have to make your fun with little stuff, so it's more like work.
Good work, bloody good work, but work.
Now, in the MMO scene, only two games were "fun"; WoW and Starwars: Galaxies.
Incidentally, those are the two most hated games as well.
And the reason is probably simple, they had fluff. They HAVE fluff. At the moment, there's a "totally pointless" beer festival in WoW(that i'm missing), but it's fun. I used to spend hours on furnishing my apartment in Starwars, 'cause it was fun.
Fluff=fun in games. Because that fluff makes the "RP" wake up more and makes you feel like more a part of the world that isn't all "pump and grind".
Now Ambulation, that will probably pump the fun factor up in EVE, possbiility to put up a bar and all, but i doubt it will go into the fun factor zone of WoW or SW:G.

I think EVE is a great game to look at but not a whole lot of fun to play. I'm about one month in and I'm finding less and less reason to log on. The game just isn't what I imagined it to be, I came here with visions of pre-trammel UO - What I found was a grind game with pretty graphics.
If EVE didn't have the mission running system in its current form it would be a much better game imho.

I think the most fun I've ever had playing a game is playing Unreal Tournament 2004 on a server with several mods enabled, specifically it had (can't remember the proper names) dual weapons, double fire rate, double damage and double health.
I was particularly fond of a map called "Dome of Death" on this server. Camping the spawn point in a Goliath tank with a rate of fire of about 1 second was hilarious and resulted in quite a few HOLY ****!s.
Cheers

eve can be insanely fun but the pratical side of supplying yourself and so on can be quite boring tbh anybody who resources for the needs of an alliance including buying/transporting pos fuel , maintaining production supplying the needs of their playerbase deserves a paycheque for playing this game .
the backbone of this game is built largely on players performing mindnumbing tasks in infinite repetition to build the foundation of any corp or alliance . the simple fact is that though there is the ocassionally interesting moment this is the real cause of alot of logistic burnout in alliances . simply managing and suppliying a player base is the most boring thing ever and the ridiculous limitations on transportation only add to this . once any corp/alliance reaches the point of claiming and maintaining sovereingnity the complexity of logistical works grows to ridiculous levels .
anytime you speak to someone in your corp or alliance who handles this you should say thanks because they handle the worst part of this game so the rest can enjoy the best parts .

Nope. The uber funnest games I played are Total Annihilation and Streets of Rage 2 for the Sega Genesis. Eve... well it hasn't been much fun for months, but I still hold out hope for some reason.

No, definitely not.
GTL/GTR2 & IL2 offer much more engaging and rewarding hands on "PvP". HoI-DD/EU3 offer better (but oh so slow) strategic PvP (available to alliance leaders in Eve as well, admittedly an area I have not aquainted myself with). As for PvE, well, too many to list, but even just out of space games Homeworld and Nexus:Jupiter Incident come to mind as more "fun" PvE experiences.
Why do I like and play Eve? Well, it's a MMOG spaceship game, c'mon. It's complex enough to hold my interest and give it longevity. Thinking up setups and planning skill paths for them is great. The character advancement is deliciously slow, making every step of progress anticipated and appreciated, and at least the skills don't require grinding. Skill system is a great move on CCP's part. Then there's the risk factor, loosing hurts, which gives it a dimension lacking in many other games. Someone will quickly put you back on your toes when you've become bored and careless.

oh well:
Funniest Game: Monkey Island
Most exciting Game: Wing Commander - The Price of Freedom
Most entertaining Game: Command & Conquer 1
Most time invested (real online time) : BF 2 / BF2142
Well i guess EvE scores in some of the categories mentioned above...its a great game, which is fun to play and which has its exciting parts. But what is really outstanding, even if you wont belive that, is the customer support ! If you don¦t believe me check the BF2 Forums and look how EA/Dice treat their customers.....

You really aren't, it's one of those games that has no gameplay elements to not get in the way of the story telling. While this would be great in theory I didn't want to spend ú40 (okay rented for ú3) on a book with lots of pretty pictures and no dialog what so ever. That sounds a little like a great massive con to me considering it's saving grace, the story is about as interesting as watching paint dry.
Anyway on the topic of EvE being fun, well I don't know. I've been thinking about this as I sit in the station after having my arse handed to me by the other pirates that have trained "scary Irish accent" several levels higher then me. Why do I waste perfectly good beer and junk food money every month on such a game that don't even give me the the shallow gratitude of pretending I'm special and the universe's only hope for survival.
Still this is a pretty smart choice as at least then I'll be used to the idea of being hated by half the known universe as ****gy coloured phallic shaped ships give me a not so proverbial arse raping session on the gates again.
I suppose it's because of the struggle is why I keep playing this infernal bug ridden game with a forum community that at times don't even qualify as immature. Although thinking about it most forums have that problem and those that don't are up their own arse about it anyway (hi Koffdrop!).
Anyway the struggle. That's probably why I play EvE as I'm sure any hardcore WoW player will probably tell me that being able to kill another player all on my own is no big deal and to crawl back to my muddy pool of filth you nooby little ****. But here being able to kill another player on your own is a huge momentous occasion and you know for sure that if he's done anything other then go down the cheap bastard T1 route that it's gonna cost him either a big wad of cash or a big wad of time to recover from your forceful ways on his pod.
I think thats why I keep playing, it's such a huge effort to achieve even the most mundane things in the game that you can't help but celibate hugely about it to everyone who's in earshot. Until the inevitable "get over yourself it's just a bloody computer game you pathetic little nerd" line gets thrown at you that is.
It's hard to think of the most fun game I've ever played, I probably gonna say N64 smash bros or mariokart games are probably the most fun I've played simply for the amount of silliness 3 guys and a slab of black plastic can produce on otherwise boring Sunday afternoons.
Edit: Bugger, I didn't mean to ramble on like that sorry. ------------
