You just Killed their kill mail. The end result for you is the same.
You = no Carrier They = no killmail
At least a "little" win and it is not a fail at eve but just bitter Piwate-killboard-fan tears.

I just love the amount of noobs complaining about capitals that self destruct.
Every time a capital near it's end if the pilot knows what he's up to he'll self destruct . Why should he give you a kill mail and lewt ? All you get is a pod mail and some drones
On the other side it sucks when you're the attacker .

Its honestly the lamest thing in EVE right now and something needs to be done about it.
Nice post though TBH, was well written.

At least PL you got one of my 2 carriers mail :p Truncated btw i hope you did not get all the shiny mods on both of them ^^
When i saw there was nothing i could do but just sit watching my second carrier dying, i decided to make the thing end quicker hehe
That was nice fight though, next time i will be more cautious in such a fight not watching one of my char screenplay ^^

In what way is self destructing an exploit? I really wish people would stop using "exploit" to describe something they find annoying. Yes, the attackers didn't get the loot, so what? I think it's a wonderful way for a victim to give the last big "**** you" to the attacker. ---------------

How come ?
I kinda like this idea. It's a lot like insurance fraud. For example I've been tossing the idea around of burning my house down as a quick way to collect on it rather than trying to sell it in a failing housing market...
...I mean, no I didn't just say that....umm, what I meant is that if my house happened to spontaneously catch fire I wouldn't be too upset...yea....

Self destructing instead of fighting it out and trying to take as many with you as you can is just as lame as you can get. No matter which side its on and what ship your in.

? You did used to be able to jump out of warp bubbles, deployed or dictor, in any cap ship.
yep. cant remember if deployed bubbles prevent or not (think not), but spheres didnt prevent jumping out. But Dungar is old player, so he know (ebay?) me, myself and I ------> |

It's so funny when people think they won anything by self destructing. Bottom line is you got owned anyways since the ship is no more. Keep on doing it makes me laugh actually.

Since I would find the loss of my Carrier upsetting, I see no reason to provide my enemies of the satisfaction of getting the killmail. I haven't lost a Carrier in over a year, but I'll certainly consider self-destructing should I get myself into an untenable situation in the future.
Basically, I'd do it specifically because doing so would really upset those killing it. What possible motive would I have for granting my killers satisfaction and glory? Since half of Eve is a psychological and propaganda war, why provide enemies with tool to wage the war with?
