DX 9 Low: http://ve3d.ign.com/images/fullsize/17339/PC/Crysis
DX 9 Mid: http://ve3d.ign.com/images/fullsize/17340/PC/Crysis
DX 9 High: http://ve3d.ign.com/images/fullsize/17338/PC/Crysis
DX 10: http://ve3d.ign.com/images/fullsize/17341/PC/Crysis
The best 2 are the low setting one and the dx 10 one :)

Lets see...
Spend anywhere from $500 - $800 (US dollars) to upgrade from the dual 7900 GS KO's I have now (and vista, home for the cheap way, ultimate with everything) for a drop in FPS in every other game I play, a DRM riddled OS and so on just to play a handful of games?
Nah, not worth it.
Oh, and no card out from either Nvidia or ATI supports DX10.1, so no doubt there would be another $500-$600 upgrade in the future to stay current with DX10, even if it is still running non-DX10.1 at an acceptable level.

Real life > DX 10. I'd like to see you take a picture with the sun glaring down into the camera lens and get anything but a blurry mess.

I spent $700 upgrading to Vista Home Premium and an 8800 GTX Ultra... it's like I put a turbocharger in my PC... everything runs max settings with over 100 FPS now. DX10 FTW!

With some tweaks in the game files you can get most of the dx10 stuff running in dx9 - The occluding parallax mapping in particular.

I run everything on max settings with DX9 and have been pushing 100 fps with every game since I built this computer. I didn't have to upgrade ****. --------

That's not enough of an improvement to justify upgrading to a first generation card and train wreck vista. |

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 11/10/2007 09:32:38 The DX10 one looks terrible, the colors are completely unsaturated in a game that is supposed to be vibrant. Someone needs to be shot for messing with the look and feel of what looks to be a perfectly good game. Nothing to do with DX10 though, just bad graphics engine choices.
Also, note the lack of FPS numbers on those screenshots

Edited by: Khalm on 11/10/2007 10:48:48 I think the difference is hard to see in still photos. What dx10 does is great effects. Smoke, Fog, Explosions, Texture effects. First two are in completely different in DX10 and look awesome.
Best DX10 games I have played so far are World in Conflict and Bioshock
Both run silky smooth and graphics are mind blowing.
But would I get a dx10 card just for the sake of dx10. No. But dx10 cards also run the old dx9 games with blazing speed.

Never buy a consumer PC, they all are crap, unless you spend grands on a consumers custom pc company like alienware.
When I see people buying a PC at PCWorld, Dell etc, it makes me sick.
We all know building a PC is easy, providing with some research you get the right parts...
